Chapter Six: Blossoming of Something New

Zane was frustrated. His gloved hands quickly tapped the table as he awaited the now two solar turns late fiend he promised to meet in Bliss. Frustration promptly turned into a brewing need to mana curse the man he was waiting for.

"Blasted quiet bastard...." Zane mumbled. His tapping fingers drew the attention of another guest that sat a few tables away from him. The guest quickly left corolla on the table and rushed out from the tense atmosphere Zane was creating. A light tap on the shoulder startled him to curse again, and the tall man dressed in black nodded a greeting and sat down across from him.

"You had me wait in this small town for what Nightshade. If you waste my time any more, I might find myself dropping you off the top of my tower," Zane threatened.

Nightshade smiled, and a slight tap on his leg drew Zane's eyes to the knife poking out from Nightshade's hands. Zane smiled and leaned forward, his gloved hand caressing the blade gently.

"This is nothing, Nightshade...draw blood, and maybe you'll pique my interest enough," Zane whispered. Nightshade smiled and tapped the knife against his leg.

"Tell me what you want before you excite a different part of me," Zane commanded. Nightshade retracted the knife with a nod and reached into his black cloak for his pad of parchment. He quickly wrote some words and then went into his pockets for a piece of paper. He placed the paper down, and Zane snatched it, opening it up.

"This is a commission. Did you need my help again?" Zane asked. Nightshade tapped his finger on the table and placed the parchment down. Zane read the words,

This commission is for the Baron's daughter, they requested a mana poison. Our guild has yet to take it on, but I want to know who requested it.

"Hah, mana poison? Rare indeed. Can I consult my network for whoever requested this commission? It's going to cost you," Zane answered. He looked at the portrait of the pink-haired woman. The picture was old, he could tell. As he continued to look at her, Nightshade tapped the table again. Zane looked up to a new message on the paper,

She is important to Namid.

"The bunny is your reason for looking into this?" Zane asked. He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. Nightshade was one odd man with a face that would make the goddess weep. It always unsettled him how an intensely beautiful man could easily take life. He looked at the commission portrait again and thought about the information he had on the young girl. The sound of laughter drew his and Nightshade's gaze to a tavern across the street. A young woman with long white hair gracefully walked out, laughing at her companion's words. She was beautiful, the green dress hugging her body like a curling leaf. However, the white-haired beauty did not stop the air in his lungs as her companion did.
