Chapter Four: Nightshades Fairy

Nightshade looked at the small pink-haired woman holding onto his bunny. She looked at him as if he were an angel about to take her to the next world. Little did she realize that he was armed to the teeth to do such things at any given moment. He had to stop staring at her; she looked lost but like a fairy queen awaiting her court. He remembered reading about fairies long ago, but those memories were clouded and too far for him to think about. He quickly took the bunny and turned to leave the fairy-like woman in the forest.

"Wait...please... do you know the way out of the forest?" She called out, desperation heavy in her voice, making him pause his retreat. He turned and nodded slowly, doing his best to avoid her gaze. Her eyes would bewitch him, he felt.

"I...need to get back to the Barony?" She inquired. His brow quirked up in surprise. A Barons' daughter in the forest. None of his guild would believe that he met the woman whose illness was a popular topic amongst them. He looked her over, for someone who was supposed to be near death she was certainly looking lively. His bunny stirred, and he quickly petted him to calm him back to sleep. Nodding in the direction he was headed, he started walking and the fairy woman followed him.

He watched as the woman hugged a sobbing maid and faded back into the shadows. He had honed his ability to disappear after years of training in the dark guild. However, instead of teleporting away, he watched as the woman was greeted by several maids, knights, and an older man with the same hair color. A curious interaction, he thought about his own family for a moment and wondered if they would ever miss him that way. Shaking off the feeling of loneliness he turned away from watching the woman who had turned to look for him and saw nothing but empty space between trees.

He promptly arrived at the guild with the teleporting magic he stole. His silent entry into the foyer of the empty bar startled the one man sitting down to eat. Wick sat with a tankard of liquor at his lips at an empty table. His eyebrow quirked up upon seeing Nightshade pop in.

"I hate when you portal in Nightshade at least let us know when you're coming back" he grumbled before taking another long sip. He walked over to the table and sat down, awaiting the news of his last mission.
