I sat on my couch and looked around as held the note in my hand in front of me. I pushed it down in my pocket so I didn't have to look at it any longer. I decided it was time for bed and stood up to walk to my bed. I felt the blood rush to my head as I lost my balance and had to lean on the couch for support. When I finally regained all of my balance I headed back to my room making sure to keep a wall beside me at all times in case I decide to topple over. When I reach my bed I pull back the blankets and lay down covering myself up. I start to drift off to sleep. I push myself deeper into the bed and pull the covers to my chin. I close my eyes and push those thoughts to the back of my mind.
There I was, back in the field with the same mysterious figure. I knew I wouldn't reach him so I didn't even attempt I just sat in the grass that so quietly tickled the inside of my thighs as I waited for the wind to pick up. I sat for what seemed like countless hours rubbing the rough grass between my thumb and forefingers, occasionally picking a strand here and there. The wind never picked up and the man never moved. His back facing me standing completely still.... Never moving, not even an inch. Maybe he wasn't a man, maybe it was all my imagination, maybe I was crazy, just like Mitch. Maybe I was Mitch.
And then I awoke to the sound of screeching tires on the road outside of my house. My front porch motion sensor light was on and that meant someone was on my porch. I crawled out of my bed and to the door to see what was there. I looked out the peep hole and gasped. I pulled the door open swiftly and stare immensely at the dozen of blood red roses.
