The next few weeks passed in a blur of final exams, project deadlines, and endless hours spent in the library. Prae and Alex were both exhausted but determined to push through the last leg of the semester. As the stress mounted, Prae couldn't help but notice that Alex was especially worn out. His geology work had become more demanding, and it seemed like he was constantly either at the lab or working late into the night on research.
Prae, despite her own busy schedule, couldn't ignore how much Alex was giving, and it made her want to do something special for him—something that would show him just how much she appreciated his hard work and loved him. She didn't want to wait for a big moment; instead, she wanted to shower him with affection in all the little ways that mattered.
One evening, after a long day of classes, Prae decided that it was time to surprise Alex with a bit of TLC. She knew he would be at the library late, so she sent him a quick text:
"Come over to my place when you're done studying. I've got a little something planned for you. :)"
Alex responded almost immediately: "Sounds perfect. I'll be there in an hour."
Prae smiled to herself as she set to work. She wanted everything to be perfect. She tidied up her dorm, lit a few candles to create a calming atmosphere, and even put on his favorite playlist—soft, relaxing music that always helped him unwind. In the kitchen, she prepared some light snacks, knowing he probably hadn't eaten properly all day.
As she waited, her mind raced with excitement. She couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he arrived, to give him the attention and affection he deserved after such a grueling few weeks.
An hour later, there was a soft knock at her door. Prae's heart fluttered as she went to open it. Alex stood there, looking tired but smiling when he saw her.
"Hey, you," he said softly, stepping inside. "What's all this? It smells amazing in here."
Prae pulled him into a warm hug, her arms wrapping around his waist as she rested her head against his chest. "I just wanted to do something nice for you. I know how hard you've been working, and I thought you could use a break."
Alex's smile widened as he hugged her back, his body relaxing against hers. "You have no idea how much I needed this."
She led him to the couch, where she had set up the snacks and drinks. "I made some of your favorite things," she said, gesturing to the small spread. "I figured you could use a little comfort food."
Alex's eyes softened as he sat down. "You're amazing, Prae. I don't deserve you."
She laughed, sitting beside him and nudging him playfully. "You deserve everything, Alex. You've been working so hard, and I just want you to know how much I appreciate it. How much I appreciate you."
They sat together, talking softly as they ate, sharing stories about their week and laughing over little moments. Prae kept finding small ways to show her affection—brushing his hair back from his face, holding his hand, leaning her head on his shoulder as they spoke. She wanted him to feel how much she cared, how much she adored him, without needing to say it every few minutes.
After a while, Alex leaned back on the couch, letting out a contented sigh. "This is exactly what I needed," he murmured, closing his eyes for a moment. "Just being here with you, relaxing... It's perfect."
Prae smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. She stood up and moved behind him, placing her hands on his shoulders and gently massaging the tense muscles there. She felt him relax further under her touch, his breathing slowing as she worked out the knots of stress in his back.
"You've been carrying so much tension," she whispered, leaning down to kiss the top of his head. "I just want you to relax tonight. No work, no stress. Just us."
Alex sighed in contentment, his voice soft. "You always know exactly what I need."
For the next hour, they simply enjoyed each other's company—talking, laughing, and sharing quiet moments. Prae continued to shower Alex with little touches of affection, whether it was a soft kiss on his cheek, a gentle squeeze of his hand, or simply holding him close as they listened to music.
As the night grew later, Alex turned to her, his eyes full of gratitude and love. "Prae," he said quietly, "thank you. For everything. I don't say it enough, but I really appreciate everything you do for me."
Prae smiled, her heart swelling with affection. "You don't have to thank me, Alex. I do it because I love you. And I'll always be here for you, no matter how busy life gets."
Alex pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her and holding her tightly. "I love you too. More than I can put into words."
They stayed like that for a while, just holding each other in the quiet of the night. Prae felt a sense of peace settle over her, knowing that she had been able to show Alex just how much he meant to her in all the little ways that mattered.
As they eventually made their way to bed, Prae curled up beside him, her head resting on his chest. She could feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, and it soothed her, reminding her of how connected they were.
Before they drifted off to sleep, Prae whispered softly into the darkness, "No matter what happens, I'll always be here to take care of you. To love you."
Alex pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, his voice low and full of affection. "And I'll always love you, Prae. You make everything better."
With those words, they fell asleep in each other's arms, knowing that no matter how stressful life became, they would always have moments like this—filled with love, affection, and the quiet understanding that they were in this together.
