Little did they know

Behind every smile
There is a pair of eyes
And behind those
There is a bunch of lies

Not everyone is okay
And it's hard to tell
Because a simple smile
Can hide a whole hell

A little smile
Makes you seem okay
And makes people assume
You had a good day

A day where you laughed
And didn't cry
A day you were positive
And not wanting to die

But little did they know
That was far from right
And little did they know
You couldn't sleep at night

They didn't know
You were in war
Between yourself and your mind
And you were being torn

Your eyes were bright
But now they are dim
And you cracking a smile
Was a chance none to slim

If only you had someone
By your side
To help you through
This scary ride

You would crack a smile
That was very real
Maybe your head would no longer
Tell you how to feel

Behind your eyes
You can see the past
But just know happiness is the only emotion
That will forever last

Little did you know
That everything will be alright
Just show them how you
Can put on a good fight
