Eight months later,
I rushed to the door as I heard the doorbell.
" why is he so early?" I spoke to myself, as Yunho told me that's he'll pick me up at seven but it's only five.
And I haven't gotten ready yet.
I opened the door,saying, "why are you so early?"
"Hi," the boy at the doorstep, greeting me hesitantly.
"Wooyoung?" I got surprised, "what are you doing here?"
"Can I come in?" He asked, "I would like to talk. Please?"
I moved aside to make way for him.
As he entered, "what is it that you want to say?" I asked, "please be quick. I'm busy."
"Mirae," he said, "I heard you are going to get married."
"Yes."
"Why?"
"What do you mean why?"
"Why did you choose him over me? What is it that he gives you more than I did?"
I laughed sarcastically, " are you really asking?"
"Please, tell me." He continued, " when I saw your wedding invitation, I was so shocked. I still couldn't understand why you decided to get married so suddenly. I thought you would still......"
"I would still what?"
I folded my arm, " still waiting for you?"
I continued, " and I didn't make the decision out of blue. I have thought about it thoroughly and I chose what I think would be the best for me."
" Didn't I say I will come back to you? Why couldn't you just wait for me? Why couldn't you just trust me?"
"Wooyoung," I sighed, "you see. That's what's wrong."
I continued, "that is not love, wooyoung. Everything was wrong from the start."
"  but I love you," he said, " why couldn't you believe me?"
"You love me?" I smiled, "you love yourself more. Or may be you love the idea of me falling over you again and again."
"If you really love someone, you will cherish them, do anything for their happiness and well-being and will try your best to keep them. But you never did. You only think for yourself. You only do whatever you want without thinking for me."
"But,"
"But what?," I sighed, "wooyoung, love is not only words. If you really love me, you should act like one. But you never did."
"How about you? Did you love me?" He asked.
"Of course, I did, wooyoung. And you knew that too. That's why you treated me like that."
I continued, " because you knew that I will always forgive you no matter what you did. I will always let you back in my life whenever you decided to come. You knew that I will always give up everything when it comes to you. That's why you did it."
I said, "everything was wrong between us. Our relationship was so toxic. We shouldn't continue like that. It was so toxic for both of us.."
"Mirae, I..," he cried.
"It's okay, wooyoung. Everything will be okay. It just," I told, " we weren't meant to be."
"I am sorry, mirae," he apologized, " I did you so wrong. And there's nothing I can do now." He kneeled, " and it was all because of me. You gave me a lot of chances but I threw them all away."
"Have I really lost you, mirae?"
I kneeled down in front of him and patted his shoulder, " I am sorry, wooyoung. It's better for both of us."
He hugged me, putting his head on my shoulder, " it's hurt, mirae. It's so hurting me. What if I couldn't survive without you?"
I stoked his hair, " you'll be okay, wooyoung. Believe me. Time will cure everything."
After crying without a single word for awhile, he pulled himself away from me. And stood up, giving a hand to help me stand up too.
" I guess this is the end, then." He said, " the end of us."
"I wish for your happiness, mirae," he headed to the door, " can we at least still be friends?"
"Of course, wooyoung. You will always be my friend and I am forever your friend too." I said, " you can come to me anytime if you need me."
He gave me a quick hug saying, " same for me too. I'll always be here for you."
