{Maria's P.o.v}

As I was debating where to enter the building at, I had almost completely forgotten about my almost completely eaten apple! How silly and fullish of me. Taking the last few bites of it, I went back into the alleyway to try and find a garage can. Don't wanna litter now, that's just showing bad manners on the Earth:)
Retracing my steps, I was actually able to find a garage can that I must have failed to notice earlier when my focus was on the building. Just when I was about to drop the apple core into the can, I heard something in the alley with me. Turning around, I saw that it was a possum! Searching for food, poor little guy couldn't be no more but a few weeks or a month old with how small they are. Oh they must be so hungry. . .
The possum then turned to look at me, letting out a kind of hissing sound.

Maria: "Hey- hey. It's ok, it's ok." (Set's apple core down beside them) "Are you hungry?"

Possum: "Confused click like noise"

Maria: "Here you go little guy." (Rolls core over to them)

Possum: (Grabs apple core and sniff it) "Happy chirping noises" (eats core)

Maria: "Hehe, you're kinda cute. Not to mention those chirps you make!"

Possum: "Clicking sound"

Maria: "Well; it was nice meeting you, hope you find more food. Bye." (Starts walking back down the alley)

As I was making my way back to that storage building, I heard some quiet piter- pater of paws right behind me. Now curious, I turned around to see that same possum. Following me?

Maria: "Huh, are you still hungry- OH!" (possum rubs up against their leg)

Possum: "Strange clicks mix with purrs"

Maria: Aww, you're just like a kitten! (Crouches down and pets possum)

Possum: "Full on happy purrs with clicks"

Maria: "Hmm, I think I'll call you. . . 'Clicks'! What do you think, like it?" ( Pets head smoothly)

Possum (Click's): "Lean into head and licks it"

Maria: "Hehe, alright then. Click's it is!"

As I was enjoying the company of my new friend, (and really my only friend) I realized that the sun would be going down here soon!
'huh, guess that walking out of the woods and into the city was much longer than I'd thought.' I thought as I remembered the warehouse that I could spend the night in.
I reluctantly stopped petting Clicks, (much to his disappointment as well) and started heading to the building. I heard Clicks try to follow, but due to his (I think they're a boy. . ?) Short legs, he was having trouble catching up.

Maria: "Oh goodness, how rude of me." (Walks back to Clicks)
"Here, I'll carry you!" (Holds arms out)

Clicks: (Happily jumps up into her arms) "Soft clicking noises"

Maria: "There we go, go boyyyy--. . . You are a boy, right?"

Clicks: (Rubs into her chest) "Purrs"

Maria: "I'll take that as a 'yea' then."
"Hehe; well I guess you and I are going to spend some time together then."

{Story telling P.o.v}

As Maria takes her new companion with her, disappearing on the other side of the alleyway. She was just able to avoid a speeding beat up car that drove right into the same alley she was in. Only for the driver to slam down on the brakes before hitting the building in front.
