Chapter 4
Sincere apology

The next day Laila still refused to talk to her older sister while she helped her get ready for school-- the little girl sure knew how to hold a grudge.

Y/n tried apologizing numerous times of course, it pained her deeply knowing the betrayal and hurt Laila must've felt when Y/n didn't pick her up from school yesterday. She was very familiar with the feeling and never wanted Laila to experience it.

It was one of the many things she experienced growing up that she didn't want Laila to have to live through.

Y/n sighed putting the sliced fruit for Laila in her small container before fitting it inside of her lunchbox that matched her bag. Putting her lunch inside of her bag, she was now done getting Laila ready for another day of School.

Walking over to where Laila was sitting in the living room on the ground eating her breakfast, Y/n handed her a juice box. The little girl so immersed in the pokemon playing on the tv she barely acknowledged Y/ns presence.

Checking the time on the wall as she walked back to her bathroom Y/n seen she still had plenty of time to get ready for work.

Today she had no classes, but she was booked in for a shift at work. She'd have just enough time to drop Laila off to school before heading straight to work after.

Looking in the mirror she couldn't help but slightly cringe at her reflection, normally Y/n made sure she always looked put together, life never seemed to be going her way but she for sure didn't make it visible through her appearance. But right now, anyone could see the stress written all over her face.

Shaking her head Y/n thought back to yesterdays event when she kicked out Armin and his friend.

'I definitely looked crazy.'

Turning on the shower she turned the knob as far as it could go, needing to take the hottest shower possible to relax her tense muscles.

It did the trick, as she let out a breath she didn't even realize she was holding in feeling the warm water hit her skin soon after riding her clothes and stepping in.

Even though she felt as if she could fall asleep standing in the shower, she made sure not to get greedy and run the water for too long. After washing her face she stepped out of the shower and turned on the fan, not bothering to wait for the fogged up mirror to clear up as she brushed her teeth right away.

Wrapping her towel snug around her body she walked back to her room to figure out what to wear on her way to work. Opening her closet she was reminded of her limited options; opting with a pair of loose fitting dark blue jeans paired with a slightly oversized grey hoodie.

Changing into her plain outfit she returned back into the washroom to do her hair and makeup. She kept the makeup light as usual, not that she had much to work with in the first place. For her hair she settled with a gathering her hair into a claw-clipped style.

Now that she was finally done getting herself ready for another long day, she checked her purse to make sure all her essentials were already packed. Out of curiosity, she pulled out her burner phone to see if maybe she'd received a call from Hange.

Nothing.

Walking over to the window in her room she pulled back the curtains, since that night she'd been driving Moblit's car. She checked the parking lot to see if his car was still there, expecting for the space to be empty but his car was still there.

"Weird..." She mumbled under her breath but didn't give it much thought, not wanting to freak herself out even more. Still, it was definitely unusual for his car to still be there, especially since usually if she ever had to drive his car back after a job he'd always pick it up as soon as it was parked back in front of her apartment.
