Chapter 6
Bad luck"Moblit is dead."
Those were the first three words that left Hange's lips, the first words through the phone that had Y/n frozen where she stood in the kitchen.
"W-What do you mean Moblit's dead?" Y/n denied, ripping out her feet she swore were rooted into the ground for a moment she rushed back to her room to look out the window. To look at the clear sight of the parking lot, there was a significant change, that being Moblits car that was now gone. "His car was here up until last night and now it's gone which means he had to of--"
"Stop--- Just listen to me," Hange cut her off, Y/n's brows furrowing at the clear pain Hange was trying to suppress in her tone. "This is the last time I'll be talking to you from this phone."
Y/n felt her heart drop, she had a million questions but from the way Hange was speaking she knew that this phone call wasn't nearly enough time to get all the answers she needed.
"What's gonna happen to me and Laila?"
That's the question she felt was most important, even if she didn't know why any of this was happening she needed to understand the danger her and Laila could be in.
"I'll be leaving the country soon, I just have some things to take care of first before I leave."
Hange completed ignored her question as if her voice didn't reach the other end of the call. Her brows knitted together in frustration, to be frank she didn't care if Hange was leaving the country, she didn't care if Hange apparently had stuff to take care of first.
Technically, since completing the last job her ties with Hange, Moblit, and whatever they were apart of was severed. She'd repaid her debt and therefore met her side of the deal.
She thought it wasn't fair not only for her to be dragged into this mess, but her little sister too. Especially since after that night Hange and Moblit had no business calling her phone.
"This isn't fair!" Y/n raised her voice, surprising herself at her lack on control over her emotions. Her free hand balled up into a fist by her side, trying to contain her anger and not cuss Hange over the phone. That wouldn't accomplish anything, she needed Hange to fill her in on why her and Laila were now in danger.
"I feel sorry for you, Y/n." A sigh was heard from the other end of the line, "all your life you've been cleaning up a mess other people made."
The last thing Y/n was, was satisfied with the words she was hearing. Even if it wouldn't change anything, she felt hearing an apology from Hange would mean so much more than pity.
"But I promise you, if you're able to make it through this it's over."
Y/n opened her mouth to speak, but Hange was quicker to hang up. The sound of the line being cut ringing in Y/n's head.
Her lips trembled, her head felt like it was pulsating as Hange's words left her with a serious headache.
SMASH
Without much thought and just wanting to alleviate some anger, she threw the phone with as much force as she could against the wall.
Her eyes didn't even falter at the slight dent it left in the cream coloured walls, nor did she react to the flip phone snapping in half like a pencil.
The cheap phone was unfixable after the damage conflicted onto it, not that Y/n had any plans of fixing it or even salvaging the SIM card.
She left her room, leaving the broken phone on the floor.
