Chapter 10
MysteryLeaning her cheek on her closed fist, Y/n struggled to keep her eyes open. Blinking repeatedly, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier each time they drew closed. The words of the well-dressed professor standing at the front of the lecture hall siphoned through one ear and came right out the other.
With midterms quickly approaching, it would be in Y/n's best interest to be as alert as possible during her classes; but her work schedule came in the way of that.
It'd been two weeks since her car broke down, and she'd been busing from Armin's house to work; a very long ride which felt tripled in time whenever she had a later shift.
Thankfully, once Armin had found out about her car situation he offered to pick up Laila more often. Piling onto the debt Y/n owed to her friend which she was now certain would be impossible to pay back in a single lifetime.
While Armin reassured her multiple times she didn't have to be in a rush to find a new place, Y/n knew not to overstay. Keeping herself busy not only apartment searching, but also job hunting.
With no car and no space that was hers, one job simply wasn't going to make the cut anymore.
While she was stressed over the situation with Hange, Y/n didn't have time to dwell over what happened anymore.
She needed to focus on getting her degree, getting another job, finding a new place, getting another used car. Most importantly, keeping her little sister safe and happy.
The sound of chatter coupled with notebooks slamming shut and the zippers of bags worked as Y/n's alarm clock; signalling the dismissal of class. Stretching her arms above her head her eyes squeezed shut as yawn pushed past her lips.
Smacking her lips she lazily rose from her seat and packed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder she followed the mass of young adults leaving the room.
Feeling a hand suddenly encase her shoulder, already knowing who it most likely belonged to Y/n glanced over calmly. A small smile gracing her features as her eyes met familiar kind ones.
Armin mirrored her expression, hand dropping down as he fell into step beside the shorter female.
"I seen you were struggling to keep your eyes open today." He commented with a chuckle, Y/n embarrassingly breaking eye contact and focusing her gaze down the hall.
"I was actually very engaged in todays lesson." Her tone was laced in sarcasm earning a playful eye roll from Armin.
"Hey um, I know I said I could pick up Laila today but something actually came up."
Y/n nodded understandingly, reaching the doors leading outside she held the door for the blonde to walk through. Halting in their steps, they fully turned to face one another; Y/n not missing the apologetic glint in Armins blue eyes.
"Its all good, you're already doing so much for me don't stress it." Y/n waved a hand dismissively, "I can get her today it's no problem, really."
"About that," Armin clapped his hands together before pointing them towards Y/n, "I already asked Eren and he said he can give you a ride to get her. So don't worry about having to take the bus."
"Oh."
It'd been two weeks since that very odd encounter she had with Eren, two weeks since she cried in front of him.
A moment of weakness that she cringed over anytime it came to mind.
Thankfully, she hadn't seen the brunette much other than briefly when he gets back home from his class. Sometimes she'd see him in the evening when he leaves to take Rollo for a walk. But other than that they hadn't interacted, she noticed Eren wasn't home much.
