[ chapter four ]
I WRAPPED MY ARM AROUND LEIA'S WAIST, letting her rest her head on my shoulder as she contemplated her life. She was was sitting sideways on my lap while Ozzie sat on the yellow couch, listing the events that were happening this week near Wisconsin. Gwen was behind us, rummaging through the freezer for a soda.
"Cheese festival. Cheese festival. Another cheese festival. Hold up, there's a warehouse rave in Milwaukee. I need this. I want to go somewhere where I don't have to hold back." Ozzie said to us eagerly while Gwen went to sit down back next to him
"You've been holding back, Ozzie?" I asked him skeptically with a raised eyebrow and he flashed me a wide smile
"You have no idea." He answered me, the smile slowly transforming into a smirk before he went to flip the pages
"I don't know. The last time I went to a rave, I stayed up for two days. Turns out, if a mint is 40 bucks, it's not a mint." Gwen informed us with a wide grin, her eyes widening in remembrance
"I could have told you that. It's also the day I lost 40 bucks somehow." I told Gwen flatly and she smiled at me innocently, not responding to my statement
"Great story. I still want to go." Ozzie told us flatly before shifting his attention back to the magazine in hand
"You know what I want?" Leia spoke up for the first time since our get-together down at the basement
"Don't say Jay." Gwen told her and we knew that Leia would speak my cousins name like she had the past few days ever since they're almost kiss
"Jay." Leia breathed out and I shook my head in amusement, muffling my laughter into Leia's shoulder
"It was so hot when he didn't kiss me on the car the other night. What does it mean? Where is it going? Should I start shaving the back of my legs?" Leia questioned us as she shifted her position to sit up properly on my lap
"Leia, placing all of your value in the hands of a man is just giving it away and the direct result of living in an oppressive patriarchal society." Gwen stated firmly to Leia, and I shared a look with Ozzie at her words
"She read the 'Riot Grrrl Manifesto' and won't shut up about it." Ozzie informed Leia who nodded her head, before brushing she brushed some strands out of her face
"I want to be a feminist. In college." Leia added hesitantly, "But right now, I really, really, really want a boyfriend."
**HEY JUDE**
"Leia, I'm not sure if you're ready for Jay. He's a player. You just had your first kiss. Jay's had sex in a lake." Gwen listed to my cousin making me gasp in shock
"Leia Tattoo Forman, you had your first kiss and didn't tell me? The betrayal." I said to my cousin, leaning against the seat with a hand on my chest
"It was with a guy at the mall." Leia softly informed me, and I glanced up at her to see her cheeks reddening
"I don't even like to put my face in a lake." Ozzie stated as he crossed his arms, shivering in disgust
"Me neither but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to have sex in the woods or to get laid in general." I shrugged my shoulders with a smirk on my lips, thinking about when I went to hook up with Nate in the woods the other day
"Honey, it's not a secret you guys get freaky in the woods." Ozzie informed me making the smirk disappear from my lips
"Ahem, this isn't about my brother and Jude hooking up which is disgusting cause he's ugh, this is about Leia and her feelings for Jay. We just don't want you to end up being some summer hookup he dumps before school starts." Gwen told Leia in her defense and I knew that she would've been right if this was some random girl
