It was the next bell and time for lunch Dustin rushed to lunch as quick as he could He saw Eddie, Gareth, and Jeff at the lunch table Eddie was snacking on a bag of pretzels and a peanut butter sandwich he made the same morning
Dustin was so happy to see Eddie but he wanted to keep his feelings to himself so they don't suspect anything
"Hey guys" "Hey" the boys said in unison Gareth pulled a magazine out of his book bag "Have you guys seen this shit?" With a stern voice "What is it?" Eddie asked Gareth passed it over to Eddie "Flip to page 15" So Eddie did so He looked with an unfazed look on his face like he've heard it all before
He then coughed up until he's formed a deep voice
"The Devil has come to America. Dungeons and Dragons, at first regarded as a harmless game of make-believe, now has both parents and psychologists concerned. Studies have linked violent behavior to the game, saying it promotes satanic worship, ritual sacrifice, sodomy, suicide, and even... Murder."
Mike had joined the table by then, listening to everything he said Eddie went on about how unfair the school was treating the outcast and Chrissy enjoyed every second of it up until he called out the basketball team "Or a game where you toss BALLS INTO LAUNDRY BASKETS"
Chrissy could see the anger and frustration in Jason's face "You want something freak?" Jason replied Then to make matters worse Eddie made some weird alien noise then smiled at Chrissy
Her cheeks started to fluster and she felt embarrassed so she pretended to cough to hide her smile
It was the last period and Chrissy had to meet with Eddie in less than 15 minutes She felt anxious Nervous Excited And worried She was scared of him because he didn't seem like the nicest person
She barely knew him and the way he treated her friends was just... But she knew she didn't have any other option. Whatever this slimy creature was had to leave her mind and stop controlling her
RING RING RING!!!!
Chrissy reread Eddie's directions Everyone had already left campus to get ready for the game so she knew she wouldn't be seen
Chrissy continued walking until she saw a picnic table "Hello?" She called out hoping for an answer She looked around seeing nothing Instead she heard a clock ticking Tick tock tick tock tick tock tick Chrissy saw a clock that looked like it was forced in the tree It started to break and Chrissy felt more and more scared
She backed away hoping she could make an exit But she was surprised by a tall long haired boy behind her "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you" Chrissy felt a bit of relief but still was afraid "You okay"
That's when it hit her really hard
She hadn't heard that in a while Or at least hear it with actual worry in their voice But Eddie Eddie, really seemed like he cared "I'm fine" "Okay! let's get started" He led her to the table and slammed his lunchbox down Y'all already know how it goes

He made her feel happier than she ever had in some time. She felt so comfortable with him
"Do you have anything maybe stronger?" Eddie looked at her with a sense of sorrow
What could be going on so wrong in her life that she needs something stronger than weed itself? Eddie thought to himself
Eddie coughed up some words as he still felt a bit of sadness "I do but it's not exactly here with me" Chrissy felt a lot of despair Eddie could see that "Hey hey don't worry I can bring it for you back for you. You just gotta stay here for like 10 minutes"
"I would but I have to go to practice for the game in 6" "Oh" he replied
It was an awkward silence for about 28 seconds before one of them said something
"You could get it from my place after the game you know"
Chrissy quickly straightened her posture as she stared at him Eddie could tell she was thinking negatively "Woah haha none of that don't worry" Eddie smiled
Chrissy started to feel a little embarrassed the way her mind immediately thought negatively
A little frown was appearing on her face that she didn't even know was happening but Eddie was still laughing
It was pretty difficult to be upset around a face like that. A smile like that. A man like that His laugh could fill up an empty stadium. That bright smile could light up a dark room
He calmed down and checked his watch "Oh I'm sorry I didn't answer did I?" "No not really" he replied "I can get it I just don't have a car and I can't ask Jason so..." "I can drive you don't worry" "Oh okay!" she responded to that a bit too excitedly but she didn't care
"If you don't wanna be seen you can go to the back door in the stage room" "Okay" she responded "Thank you Eddie. For everything" "No problem...freak" "Hey!" She said with a yelp as she began to walk away from the table They traded goodbyes and left
