I sit on the floor of my parents bedroom shoving my mother's bathing suits and T-shirts into a large suitcase.
"Mom, do you really need this bikini? Aren't you getting a little, you know, old?"
"I'm never to old to be looking hot." She says.
"Excuse me while I go vomit." I say with a laugh.
"Remember, you have to be at the airport 3 hours before the scheduled departure time so you can get everyone through customs. And make sure Grandma is comfortable, you know with her metal hip and all."
"I know, I know." She sighs, "this isn't my first time flying."
"You also need to drive me to practice before you leave. And don't ask me for the millionth time if I want to go. I only need to take off 10 more seconds and I could be going to Brazil in 2016 with the Canadian Olympic team!"

"Faster! Faster! Go! Go! Go!" My coach yells. "You barely broke 1:05 on that last 100!" I'm tired! I shout and then splash him with water. We've been doing this for hours. "That's the point." He says, "and 1500 freestyle for splashing me. Go." I push off the wall, distance is a great time to think. My parents, brothers, and grandma must be at the airport by now, I hope my dad remembers to let Josh go to the bathroom before boarding, he refuses to go once on the plane. I think he's afraid that he will be sucked out or something. And Axel needs to take gravol before takeoff so he doesn't puke. Maybe I should call them and tell them and, and, and- STOP! I tell myself, they will be fine. My parents are perfectly capable to take care of them. Just calm down, deep breaths, focus on the swimming now.

I look at the clock, it's 10pm now their plane should take off soon. All of a sudden, the phone rings;
"Hello?"
"Mom! Your plane should be taking off now."
"Ya, ya, our flight got delayed. Something about a rough touchdown? They are checking for damage. We might not leave until tomorrow."
"Ok, keep me updated. And remember-"
"To let Josh pee and give Axel his medicine. We know Zasha. This is our job as parents."
"Fine, bye then. And seriously, call me if anything happens."
"Ok, bye. Have a good sleep."
Beep
Ya, like I'm going to get any sleep now. This is going to be a long night. I guess I should get caught up on some homework. Thank the gods that I don't have practice tomorrow morning.

"And to find the key you must look at the last note in the piece as well as the key signature." Mr. Ashton drones. Ugg, music class is the worst. I feel my phone buzz in my pocket, I glance at the screen "mom's cell" I raise my hand,
"yes miss Lewis?" Mr. Ashton says.
"I need to go to the washroom." I say hurriedly.
"You have 10 minutes."
"Thank you."
I rush out.
"Hi mom, what's up?"
"They're boarding our flight now."
"Good, make sure the boys read the safety pamphlet and watch the video."
"Ok, I'll make sure"
"I'M SERIOUS"
"I know you are"
"Wait, what's your flight number?"
"259."
"Ok, have fun in Brazil."
"Bye."
"Bye."

Finally, the last period of the day, I'm exhausted. Suddenly, my phone rings again. I look at the screen but don't recognize the number. I'm about to let it go to voicemail when I decide to answer. It's a free period, we can do anything we want.
"Hello?"
"Hello, is this Zasha Lewis?"
"Speaking..."
"My name is Lance Martinez and I work for the airline."
"What happened?"
"Are you sitting down, are there people around you?"
"Yes"
"I'm very sorry to inform you that flight 259 has gone down over Peru, we do not know much at the moment."The world started spinning and then everything went black.
