WARNING! The beginning of this chapter will be kinda steamy, sorry!
"Mi amor, wake up." Muertes' voice was quiet and kind. He gently rubs the side of your face, smiling lovingly at you. You stir slightly, cuddling into the pillow beneath your head. He sets a paw on your shoulder and gently shakes you. You just roll over onto your back, turning your head away from him. At this, he just smirks. "Fine, mi amor. I'll play along." He throws the covers over his head and plants soft kisses down your naked, semi-conscious body. You smile a bit, slightly more awake. His sets your legs on his shoulders, wrapping his arms around your thighs so you couldn't close them. Planting gentle kisses on your inner thighs, giving you goosebumps. He starts licking over the places he'd just kissed, earning a gasp from you. Now fully awake, you grab the back of his head. "O-okay okay I'm up!" You try to sit up, just for one of his arms to grab your throat and push you back down. Your hands instinctively grab his wrist in fear, despite the heat now pooling between your legs. He chuckles at you, his tail starting to wag. "Tan rizada, me gusta eso." (So kinky, I like that.) He removes his paw before quickly burying his face between your legs, attacking your flower with his tongue. Your face burning as you moan, trying to hide with the blanket. He really doesn't like it when you cover your face. It's his second favorite part of you, so why would he enjoy not being able to see it? Pulling his head up a bit he reaches back up and gently pulls the blanket out of your grasp before throwing it off the bed entirely. Your face burns even more as your love mark covered body is now on full display for him, making him hum in delight. Bashfully trying to avoid looking at him, he starts kissing your thighs again, making you shiver and throw your head back into the pillow.
Getting a bit of a later start than originally planned, Muerte helped you gather up some supplies for the two day journey ahead of you. Watching him lock the door as you throw your cloak over your shoulders, you feel kind of sad having to leave your home. As excited as you were to go see people you thought of as family, it was still slightly painful to walk away from your safe place. Gripping the strap of your travel bag tightly, looking away from the house to try and hide your tears. Muerte sees this and doesn't hesitate to grab your hand to comfort you. "It's okay, mi amor. It'll still be here when we come back." You look at him and can't help but smile. You hug him tightly, catching him off guard. He smiles and holds you, petting your hair. "C'mon, mi vida. Let's get going." He keeps a gentle grip on your hand as the two of you walk away from your modest little home.
About halfway through the first day's journey, you felt so exhausted you almost couldn't keep going. Muerte offered to stop for the day considering it had been almost 3 weeks since you'd walked an entire day, but you refused. You didn't want to give up. It wasn't until Muerte noticed the footprints of blood that was left behind you in the dirt on the footpath. Suddenly being scooped off your feet, your face turns red when you see Muertes' clearly irritated face just a few inches from yours. You giggle nervously, kissing his cheek. "Don't try and butter me up. We're stopping for a few minutes." He carries you over to the side of the dirt road, setting you down in the grass. "Honey, I'm okay-." He presses his lips to yours quickly to silence you. Sitting down next to you, he sets your leg in his lap and pulls your boot off. He winced a bit seeing the entire bottom of your sock was soaked with blood, a small hole in the fabric. He flips over the boot in his paw and sees a nail embedded deep in the sole. He looks back at you in absolute shock, wondering how long you'd walked with this thing stabbing into your foot. You were looking at a nearby lilac bush, admiring your favorite flower from afar, oblivious to the situation you were in. "(Y/N), when did this happen?!" You jump slightly, not expecting him to raise his voice. Looking at him confused, you watch him then pull the nail out of the bottom of your boot. "Oh. I was wondering why it felt like something was stuck in there." His jaw drops. "Are you alright? How did you not feel any pain?" You began laughing. After a question like that, the last thing he expected was for you to fucking laugh! "Sorry, mi amor. My nerves are shot from walking in the cold as a child. I'm okay, trust me." You open up your travel bag and pull out your spellbook. Flipping it open to a bookmarked chapter for healing spells, looking for the right one. Before you can even find it, you feel your boot being put back on. You look up just as Muerte moves your leg from his lap. "Better?" He smirks at the confused look upon your face. "What? Magic isn't hard." He stands up, offering his paw for you to grab. You take hold of his paw tightly as he pulls you to your feet. "Would you like to go see the flowers before we carry on, amor?" Your eyes light up and you almost sprint to the lilac bush. He smiled to himself, watching you enjoy the flowers.
The moon and stars lit up the night sky, the two of you laying down in the grass. You were happily pointing out the constellations you knew, Muerte smiling at you. "How are you still awake?" He asks when you take a pause. You blush, now worried you're keeping him awake. "Sorry, I'm just enjoying your company." He laughs, holding you close. "And I am enjoying yours, mi vida." You blush more as he snuggles his face into your neck, kissing the marks on your collar. Tangling your fingers into his fur, snuggling him. "Thank you." He stops, looking up at you confused. "You confuse me, mi amor." He holds you, kissing your cheek. "But I wouldn't change a damn thing about you." You smile, snuggling your face into his chest. "Amor, can I ask you something?" He tail begins to wag, loving when you called him pet names. "Hmm?" He puts a finger under your chin, making you look at him. Your face burns as you stare at his hooded eyes. 'God, who gave him the right to be this hot?' You thought to yourself, completely forgetting your question. "U-um I have no idea. Sorry." He laughs before kissing your nose. "Te amo, ahora duerme un poco." (I love you, now get some sleep) Smiling like an idiot, you bury your face in his chest once more. "I love you, Muerte." He holds you close as the two of you drift off to sleep for the night.
You'd make it to Los Rotos much sooner than expected, though late in the day still sooner than you'd thought. A two day journey completed in just a day and a half? You'll take that as a major win. The closer you got to Maoris' house, the more excited Muerte seemed to get. You smiled, noticing he was particularly excited to see Corlis and Cody. It made you wonder. Seeing their house come into view, an idea popped into your head. "Race you, amor!" You tap his shoulder before you start running. You're only a few feet ahead before he runs right past you, making you laugh. Almost to their door, he suddenly stops and grabs you, picking you up and spinning you around, the two of you laughing together. Just then, you both hear Maori screaming excitedly from the doorway, startling you. He sets you down just as she runs over and hugs you both tightly. "It's so good to see you two! Though I must say, together is the very last thing I ever expected!' She laughs, pulling away from the two of you. You blush, looking away. "Come inside you guys! Oh and Muerte?" He looks up at her, his ears up. "Cody's home." With that he sprints past the both of you and goes into the house. Maori laughs, closing the door after you step inside. "Come sit with Corlis and I, we just finished making supper."
"So are the boys going to come eat?" You look up from your glass of whiskey, confused as to why Muerte and Cody hadn't come in for dinner that you guys had finished a little more than an hour ago. "Oh they'll probably come in after Maori takes out the dessert." Corlis chuckled, downing her 8th shot of the night. You looked at Corlis with concern. "Is she okay?" You look at Maori who was unfazed. "She has magic in her blood that makes it very hard for her to get drunk. She's fine." You felt relieved, sure she'd be okay. "Listen, I'm sorry if this question is inappropriate, but.. Who is Cody's father?" They look at you for a moment, shocked. You immediately regret asking, feeling bad. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean-." Corlis puts her hand up, silencing you. "It's okay, hija. You see, when Maori and I found each other, our souls bonded together and created a form of soul magic that created Cody. But while I was pregnant, one day I began to bleed. That's the day we met Muerte. He didn't want to take Cody from us though. He knew our situation and decided it wasn't fair to take him. He said he would spare him, so he placed his paw over my belly and told me everything would be okay. And he was right, our little Cody was born healthy with that silver hair that matches Muerte. If there's any chance of him having a dad, Muerte is all he's got." You look at her, processing the story she'd just told. Just then, Muerte walks into the kitchen with Cody, his arm around the boy's neck as he noogies him. The two wives smiled at the pair, truly loving the relationship they had. You couldn't help but smile too, the pure happiness displayed on Muerte's face was just adorable. Seeing how close he was with them, it didn't bother you. You thought it was lovely how willing he was to help them when they were broken, adoring how kind he actually is. The guys then joined you all at the table, pouring themselves each a drink. The night carried on with you all swapping stories, telling Maori and them about how you and Muerte had met, all while drinking like teenagers.
Stumbling to the guest room with Muerte, him drunkenly waving Cody and his mothers goodnight. You can't help but smile at hearing him tell them he loved them all, knowing they were his family too. Finally making it into the room, you set your travel bag and cloak on the chair, Muerte throwing his poncho on the floor. He grabbed you and gave you a sloppy kiss on the lips, holding you close. Not nearly as drunk as he was, you just smiled against his lips before pulling away, helping him to the bed. He pulled you on top of him, holding you close to himself once more. You sighed and accepted your defeat, snuggling into his chest and falling asleep.
