CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
I walked out of dressing room, grinning from ear-to-ear.
"So, what y'all think about this?" I asked, eyeing everyone who was with me. Momma Sham, Bahja, my mom and the twins were here at the bridal shop. "I like it, but I think you need something more close-fitting lace-like," Bahja said. My mom nodded, bouncing Nichayan on her lap. I nodded. "I see, you know me so well Bahja because that's just what I like," I beamed. She laughed. "Of course, duh," she playfully snarled. I laughed, and went back into the dressing room and took off the dress. I hung it up on the hanger, and grabbed the next dress. It was long and silky. I eased myself in it, and adjusted the straps on my shoulder. I took a look in the mirror, and sighed. I kind of like this one, just not that much. I walked out of the dressing room.
"What y'all thi-" Bahja cut me off with her laughter. "No, hell n-" Momma Sham smacked her shoulder. "Watch your damn mouth!" she growled. "Sorry mom," Bahja said lowly. "I think it's too old lady-ish," my mom said. "Yeah baby, what's the next one?" Momma Sham asked. "I'll go get it," I said, turning around walking to the dressing room. I took off the dress and placed it back on the hanger. I grabbed the next dress. My favorite dress. The dress is silky with a lot of lace. The white lace dress was everything. I eased myself into the dress, and rubbed my hands down my thighs. I looked in the mirror, and smiled wide. I walked out of the dressing room, and everyone froze.
"Maya," my mom said in awe. Momma Sham and Bahja's mouths were wide open. "I-I-I love that dress Maya!" Bahja exclaimed. "Yes," momma Sham exclaimed in a ratchet tone, "that dress is everything baby girl!"
I smiled. "So this is the one?" I pointed to the dress. They all nodded fast. I laughed, and went back into the dressing room. I to0k the dress off, and hung it on the hanger. I got back dressed and grabbed the dress. I put it over my arm and smiled wide. My wedding day is coming quicker and quicker by the day. I paid for the dress, and we all took the van to the wedding planner's office.
As I walked into the office, I grew more nervous by the minute. Every waited in the lobby as Bahja and I went into the planner's private office.
"Good evening ladies," she smiled wide, turning to face us in her chair. "Good evening," Bahja and I said in unison. "So how are you today Maya?" she asked. I nodded. "I'm excited though I'm very nervous," I replied. She nodded. "It's all honestly natural. In the long run, you'll be forever elated with this event we're planning," she grinned, patting my thigh. "Well, let's begin," she turned to her big desktop.
We were an hour into planning the venue, and routine.
"Okay, so the brides maids will be wearing silk white dresses?" she asked. "Silk with lace on their shoulder sleeve," I replied. She nodded, sketching the ideas into the laptop. "And Bahja, here, is my maid of honor," I said. The wedding planner and Bahja looked at me at the same time. The wedding planner smiled, so did Bahja. Bahja hugged me and the planner went back to work. "Okay, so I have this venue in a private area of Atlanta," she pulled up a picture of the venue. Bahja and I gasped. "It's perfect," I semi whispered. The wedding planner smiled, and sketched more ideas into her laptop.
"Everything's coming along pretty well, just as soon as we can get everything put together, you're going to be Mrs. Alsina," she grinned. "I thank you for all of your work, Ms—?" I paused. "Just call me Jackie," she waved me off. "Okay, thank you so much Jackie," I said gratefully. She nodded. "It's all in your favor. I've known your people for a while and I'm more than happy to design your first and hopefully, only, wedding," she said. "It is my one and only wedding. I love Nick so much, I couldn't see myself being with anyone other than him, he makes my world complete, just everything about him, the way he provides for and love the kids to where he dedicates himself to me. He actually dedicates himself to our family we're building," I soliloquied. Bahja and Jackie was both looking at me in awe. I laughed.
"That is so cute," Jackie beamed. "Yes it is!" Bahja added. I blushed in slight embarrassment.
Later that day, I was conversing over the phone with the restaraunt that was catering to the wedding.
"Yes sir, thank you so much," I said hanging up. I turned to Bahja. "Everything is set in catering," I said. She nodded. "Good," she said. "I just can't wait until the day, my goodness," I beamed. My wedding was set for a month and a week from now. Everything was coming together so fast that it seemed surreal. "You're eighteen getting married, wow," Bahja said in amazement. "I know but you know how much I love him Bahja," I said. "Yeah I do know. I wish you a lifetime full of happiness baby girl," she hugged me. I hugged her back, softly crying. "Stop it Maya," Bahja said, wiping a racing tear from her face. I burst out crying making her softly cry. "This just seem so surreal. My life was hell before this, I can't believe this Bee," I sobbed. She softly grabbed my face and made me look at her. "Believe it, you've experienced all of the bad for this very moment. God didn't put you through the storm for nothing ma," she said. "Now you sound like Nick," we both burst out laughing. I gathered myself together and sighed. "I just can't wait to be Mrs. Alsina," I smiled.
