CHAPTER THREE:

I slowly got out of Bahja’s bed, and scrolled to her bathroom. Texting Nick last night wasn’t that bad, at all. I’d also informed him about the full scoop of me, following him having remorse for me, big remorse. He’d actually told me that he wanted to take me out to dinner to clear all of the stress. I agreed. My phone rang, and it was Nick.

“Hello?” I answered. “Hey there beautiful, what are you doing?” Nick asked. “Taking a piss,” I replied bluntly. I instantly heard his laughter over the phone, also shooting a smirk across my face. “Remember we still have a date?” he inquired. “Yeah, I remember,” I inquired back. “How long would it take you to get ready?” he asked. “I’ll meet you somewhere,” I said. “Oh, I can’t see where you live?” he challenged. “It’s not anything against you, it’s just that I don’t know you that well, you may be a stalker for all I know,” I said, straight up. He laughed. “Shawdy, I ain’t a stalker, I just want to take you out on a nice date,” he said in a smooth tone. I almost melted at how sexy, and blissful he sounded, I’d zone off in space. “Hello? You still there?” he asked. “Yeah, yeah,” I shook my head, flushing the toilet. I got up, and stripped bared naked. “Aye, I’m going to have to call you back,” I seductively said. “And why’s that?” he smooth talked. “Because I’m finna get into the shower,” I replied. “You naked?” he flat out asked. I covered my mouth to keep from laughter. “Yes Nick, of course,” I chuckled. He groaned over the phone, sort of creeping me out. “Call me when you’re ready,” he hung up. I shook my head pulling my hair into a high-bun.

After my shower, I stepped out drying myself completely off. I grabbed some cocoa butter oiling myself all over. I wrapped the towel around my waist, and went to my clothes. Today, since I’m going on a legit date then I decided to wear some black and white stripped high waist pants, a black plain crop top and some black wedges. I pulled my hair into a ponytail, and applied my red lipstick. I put my phone into my purse, and shook Bahja awoke.

“What is it Maya?” she groaned. “I’m going out for a little bit, drop me off,” I hissed. She threw the covers off of herself, and stormed out of bed. I love my best friend; she’d do anything for me. She threw on her pink and black race car coat, and grabbed her keys. I walked out of the house, and she got in the driver’s seat, groaning. “You look cute today Maya,” she moaned still barely awake. “Wake up first Bahja!” I mimicked slowly and loud. She covered her eyes shaking her head. “Okay, okay! Damn! I’m up,” she exclaimed as she started up her car. “Where am I dropping you off?” Bahja asked. “Starbucks,” I replied. She nodded, and sped off. She drove straight to Starbucks, and I got out of the car. “Be sure to be back here by tonight,” I warned. She waved me off. “Yeah, yeah alright,” she snarled as she pulled off. I pulled my phone out, and called Nick up.

“Wassup mama?” he answered. I low-key blushed at what he called me. “Uh, meet m-me at Star B-Bucks,” I stammered. He chuckled lightly over the phone, before initiating. “Alright Shawdy,” he replied, and then hung up.

I waited fifteen full minutes, until a yellow Benz pulled up. Nicholas rolled down the window, smirking at me. “You going to get in?” he smiled. I smiled biting down on my bottom lip as I walked to the passenger seat of his car. For a bartender, he sure is PAID. He smiled at me before pulling out of the parking lot.

“So Maya, you want to know something?” Nick asked. “What’s that?” I replied. “I may be a bartender, but that’s not the only thing I do,” he said. I grew very suspicious at that moment. “What y-you mean?” I got choked up. “I’m a drug lord,” he said simply. “Wait, you’re what?” I repeated. “Yeah, that’s right, a drug lord. I have people who work for me, and make me my money. We get business from everywhere; California, Atlanta, Mexico, Detroit, everywhere and all the money comes to me,” he explained. “Really?” I inquired. I was honestly amazed. “Yup,” he nodded. “Only way no one knows is my hide up.”

I got confused by that. “What’s the hide up?” I asked. “My job as being a bartender,” he said. “Oh okay!” I exclaimed. “Yup,” he nodded. “Damn, you’re good,” I said. He chuckled shaking his head. “Well, tell me about you. How long you’ve been hustling?” he asked. “Oh, for a while now,” I explained. “Such as?” he asked gesturing his hand for me to keep talking. “Since I was probably around twelve, and now I’m seventeen,” I said. “Oh okay,” he nodded. “I’m nineteen with money that a grown man would kill for,” he sighed. “Nothing wrong with that,” I inquired rubbing his shoulder. He smirked sideways keeping his eyes on the road.

Fifteen minutes later, we arrived to our destination. It was a fancy restaurant. Nick got out, and jogged over to my door. He opened my car door, and held out his hand. I took his hand, and he led us to the door. “Ladies first,” he smiled. “Such a gentlemen,” I smiled as I walked in. The waiter approached us, and led us to our table. I sat at smelling the fresh, sweet smelling flowers on the table. “Like them?” Nick asked. I smiled and nodded. “I love them,” I said. Right then, a waiter came to our table and sat a tray in front of us. He opened the tray revealing our food. We had some chicken fettuccini pasta. The smell to the pasta made my stomach even more aggressively. I was already hungry, and it made me even hungrier; it smelled so good.

“Here’s your order ma’am,” the waitress smiled. Her eyes were mainly focused on Nick though. I found myself getting a bit annoyed, so I cleared my throat. “Oh um, enjoy,” she smiled at Nick, but rolled her eyes at me. I scoffed shooing that hoe away.

During dinner, Nick and I ate discussing things about each other. “So, that’s what kind of environment you live in?” Nick exclaimed. “Yeah,” I nodded. “That’s sad right?”

“Yeah,” he nodded. I sighed. “Aye ma,” he lifted my chin. I felt sparks going off on the inside of me. “I don’t want you to live in that kind of area. You are too nice of a girl to get treated like that.”

“Thanks,” I blushed, looking down. “Welcome beautiful,” he smiled. Then, he came across the table and planted his lips onto mine. His lips were so soft. They felt like little pillows on top of my cushion lips. He slowly moved his lips, signaling me to join him. I did so; I started to move my mouth kissing him back.  Nick then slid his tongue into my mouth and sucked on my upper lip. Then, I pulled away.

“We shouldn’t do this in a restaurant,” I plainly said. “You right,” he nodded. He stood up, and held his hand out. I smiled at him and took his hand. “If you don’t want to rush things, then I totally respect that,” he softly said in my ear. I felt a chill go down my back as I sighed slowly. “Okay,” I smiled. He walked me out to his car, and held the passenger car door open for me. I got in smiling. This date wasn’t bad after all—I actually loved it.
