"Move!"
I addressed the person who is currently bended downwards, he was fixing his shoelace and was blocking my way.
"Woah! Someone is in a bad mood today!" He shouted jovially after straightening his back, he even raised both his hands, making a gesture of surrender while looking at me with his annoying smirk. I glared at him in return, then continued to walk towards my dedicated seat which is unfortunately beside this talkative guy.
"Did you and pretty boy fight that's why you have a long face this early, our queen?" He asked, teasing me.
"Shut up Heng!" I retorted, having no energy to put up with his nonsense today. I couldn't really comprehend on how Irin can be friends with him. I couldn't even tolerate the sound of his loud voice. Speaking of Irin, she just entered the classroom — all smiles, but it was gone as soon as she approached us. Her seat being in front of mine.
"Girl! What's with the look?" She commented, her tone surprise yet concerned. I averted my gaze from her towards my manicured nails, my hands resting on my desk.
"Tsk. Someone has slept and woke up on the wrong side of the bed! That is!" Heng said, being his goofy self. His assumptions would be correct if only I had slept. But I didn't. I tried but I could not.
"What's the matter? Wanna talk?" Irin asked, tone worried making me look back at her. I would love to, but not here where anyone can overhear us. It's only Irin who knows my predicament. I mouthed "later" to which she nodded in understanding.
"What? I'm outsider again? Not gonna talk here?" Heng said, pretending to be offended.
"It's a girl talk so stop making face, it's ugly!" Irin replied to him then playfully rolled her eyes.
"Hey, hey. If I'm ugly then what should I call you?" He countered, feigning annoyance. These two bicker so much which always gives me a head ache. I sighed.
"Do you really want me to wreck your already distorted face?" Irin exclaimed, she was about to hit Heng on the head when Mr. Silva entered the classroom, clapping to get the students attention. It took a considerable amount of time and patience from the middle aged professor in getting the whole class to settle down. Sometimes I wonder if I'm really enrolled in the first section. Students here can be quite chaotic.
"Good morning class!" He started, and that's when my mind began to drift away.
Since I learned about my impending engagement to Sebastian, I always find myself wishing that this is all just a bad dream where I can wake up to, forget it, then move on. But when the negotiation materialised and I met the Grimaldi's Consigliere, all of a sudden this nightmare became so real to me. Last night I couldn't sleep, Freen's instruction about ending my romantic ties with Caleb keeps on replaying in my head. How come she knew about my relationship with him? My brother doesn't even know about it. I only told that to Irin which was later found out by a nosy Heng. The fact that she learned about my secret means I have to be more careful when I'm with her.
Too agitated to fall asleep, I made use of the time to research Freen's background, but to my total dismay, I couldn't find the woman's social media accounts and she's not searchable via google as well. Is she a spy or something?
On how she learned about it, I don't have the slightest idea. Though I'm dreading to know how did she get that information, I do not have the courage for another confrontation. Our ride coming here at school was absolutely and awkwardly silent. I felt her anger inside the car and it was too much for me to bear to the point that I just wanted to get out and walk, but I could not utter a word to voice out what I'm feeling at that moment. She didn't even cast me a single glance heading here which added to my annoyance and frustrations.
