Travis' P.O.V.
I followed Sally Face and Larry into the basement of Addison apartments, the plastic bags of snacks hanging from my hands. I had never been inside these apartments before, so this was definitely different for me. We all walked into the living room and I sat down on the couch, holding the plastic bag of snacks in my lap.
Larry grabbed a few controllers, putting them on a table in front of the couch. I watched as he seemed to hook up a gaming system to the TV in front of us. Is that why he got out those controllers? I began grabbing a few drinks out of the bag, setting them on the table carefully. After, I set the bag to the side and on the floor next to me.
Some kinda racing game soon played on the screen that I had only ever heard in passing conversation during school. It looked cool, to be honest. Larry walked over to the couch and sat in between me and Sal. The two of them grabbed their controllers. "You know I beat you last time." Sal looked up at Larry, "Yeah, but I'm not going against you this time, man." He said in response.
The controller was handed to me from Larry, and I didn't know what to be expecting. Sal was clearly more experienced at this than me, I had never even played something like this before! "Are you sure?" I asked, looking at the both of them. "I'm sure you'll do great, Trav." Larry reassured me with a light pat on my back. "Trav"? He just gave me a nickname? Why does my heart feel all fluttery from him saying that all of a sudden?
It doesn't matter. It's.. not like I'm gay. Right? "You ready, Travis?" I snapped out of it when Sal asked the question. "Yeah, sure. I'll try, I'm not really used to gaming." I told him. Maybe there was a chance I'd be good at this. Maybe.
