Chapter 2.

The next morning, William was already in his office wearing his regular T-shirt, black bomber jacket, jeans and loafers, sipping coffee and rambling about how the media was going to blow up the case. Everyone in the department began calling it the 'The Werewolf case" what with the heart missing and the torso torn open. Just then Sloan walked in wearing a shirt and black denims with tennis shoes.

"Talked to Katherine yet?" asked Sloan.

William sighed, "Nope. I was waiting for you, thought that the two of us would receive the bad news together."

"Okay then lets make a move." said Sloan.

Both of them headed to the Medical Centre to meet Katherine, she was the chief Medical Examiner working for the NYPD, homicide.

Katherine Cooper loved her job as a M.E and felt like James Watson when she helped the detectives to solve a crime. Hailing from a middle class background she felt she had finally made a name for herself when she got promoted as the chief M.E. She was beautiful with alluring hazel eyes and an olive complexion and had long dark hair. She was tall and had a slim figure.

When they entered the autopsy chamber, Katherine was busy studying Jennifer's body.

"So what's the verdict?" asked William.

Katherine had a grim expression on her face and replied, "No weapon was used to commit this murder."

Katherine explained, "Firstly the sternum was broken, so the killer could puncture her flesh and tear open her torso. He used his nails to puncture the flesh to get a hold on her body and then just brutally began to tear her open. After which he broke the last two bones of her left side rib cage to rip out her heart. Everything else was intact and there was no sign of any sexual assault. I'm hypothesizing that the killer is male since, it would require sheer brute force to just tear her open in this manner."

"Was she conscious during this time?" asked Sloan.

"No she was made unconscious. I found traces of chloroform around her nose and mouth. Only then was she killed." replied Katherine.

Will enquired, "you sure no weapon was used?"

"Positive. Using a knife would give clean edges but here the edges are jagged and near the sternum it can clearly be seen that all four and four fingers of both the hands were inserted to puncture the flesh." replied Katherine.

"The time of death?" asked Sloan.

"Between 10 and 12 pm." replied Katherine

"Any other clue that could lead us to the killer?" asked Sloan.

Katherine said, "No I have not found anything else, neither could I find any fingerprints on her body. I'll look again and if I find something I'll give you guys a call."

"Fine then we'll take your leave." said Sloan.

Both of them left the Medical Centre and on their way back William said to Sloan that he had a bad feeling that this was not going to be a lone case and more was coming their way....
