"Alex, we're going to be late!"

I immediately jumped out of bed and rushed to get ready, I can't be late on my first day of senior year and more importantly Matt can't be late for his first day of high school.

"I'm almost ready."

I screamed back down the stairs as I put my phone in my pocket and the handle of my hairbrush in my mouth, I think people over look the mouth as a body part that can carry stuff and I make sure to use it for that reason. I ran down the stairs and out the front door carrying by bag, my converses and my hairbrush that was still in my mouth. I took a quick detour to the pantry only to find it basically bare, I just hoped that Matt had gotten the last of the food. As I reached the car it dawned on me, I won't be eating until tonight, too bad I'm never really that hungry anyway.

I opened the passenger door and climb in ignoring the disapproving glare from my mother as I started to brush my hair and put on my shoes.

"You sleeping in is just so selfish Alexandra, it is Matthew's first day of high school and I don't want him making a bad first impression just because you only thought about yourself and slept in."

I knew better than to argue with my mum when she got like this, you would think being the first born that my mum would actually kind of like me but then you would be wrong. As long as I don't jeopardise her precious Matthew's future than I am tolerated. For years I would blame Matt for all of mum's favouritism but recently realised he was a victim too and I try to shelter him from the crazy that is our mother as much as possible.

Once we were dropped off and Matt and I has escaped the suffocating silence that was in the car I spotted the group of guys that I had seen at the library yesterday about standing about 200 meters in front of us. I felt a tug on my arm and turned to see a worried looking Matt.

"Here take this," he said as he shoved a sandwich in my hand, "I've got some other food in my bag but I know that you skipped breakfast and didn't bring any for lunch."

"Matt, I'm not hungry you are still growing and I will be fine. Please keep it."

Matt knew that I won't take no for an answer and reluctantly bagged the sandwich and turned to head into school after first giving me another concerned look. I was telling him the truth, I'm not hungry and no, I'm not starving myself its just recently I haven't felt the need to eat three meals a day, it's probably just the stress of the last year of school and everything, I'm not too worried about it.

As I headed into school I could feel the eyes of the guys who I saw yesterday burning holes in my back, I had to use all of my will power to not turn around and look at them, I couldn't give them the satisfaction. I was too caught up thinking about the pack of boys to notice by best friend Leila standing right in front of me.

"Earth to Alex, have you fallen out of a tree recently and hit your head or are you just crazy?"

I gave her a playful smirk as a looped my arm around hers.
