After that afternoon my friendship with Luke strengthened but sadly so did my longing for Jamie but unlike Jamie, Luke really understood me and accepted who I was.

"Alex I found your note and be prepared to die; that leftover fried rice was mine and because you ate it I challenge you to a nerf gun battle. The loser makes dinner." I narrowed my eyes at Luke and sprinted upstairs to his room in hopes finding a decent nerf gun, the problem was half of the nerf guns that Luke owned didn't work. Luke lived in a house that heaps of other families live in, like a joint living arrangement; Luke calls it a pack house but I refuse to call it that, it sounds tacky. I located a reasonably good gun and collected the bullets before sneaking downstairs.

"Luke you told me to help myself and I thought that it would be better I eat your food than some random person's who I don't know. Anyway I should warn you I am the queen of nerf." He looked at me with a smirk on his face.

"Get in positions this battle to the death will start in,

GO!"

We both drew our weapons and prepared to fire. Luke was faster than me and fired his gun first, though I could tell it was one of the faulty ones from the look of dread that graced his face. He continued to pull the trigger while the gun still didn't respond. I slowly took a step forward and raised my plastic weapon but I never did have the best aim. My bullet soared past Luke's ear and stuck to the person who had just entered the room. Luke and I fell silent and the only noise heard was the suction cap of the nerf bullet detaching and falling to the ground. I looked over to the intruder and saw the one person who I didn't but did want to see, Jamie.

"If you two juveniles are done we need this space for a meeting. Luke you are expected to be there but please escort," He turned away from me, "your little friend out before hand." His voice was cold and showed no emotion, for some reason that hurt more than any bullet wound.

Luke turned to me with what looked like pity and gestured for me to follow him. I trailed behind him to the front door and he waved goodbye before shutting the door in my face. Through the wood of the door I could hear Luke and Jamie arguing, no not arguing more like screaming.

"I don't want you being associated with humans like her Luke."

"She is your mate, what on earth is wrong with you?"

"You know the prophecy as well as I do, it's better if I stay away."

"But you're hurting her in the process, she deserves someone better."

"And what, you'd be a better mate than me? Are you delusional I'm an Alpha and what are you? Nothing."

"By how you've treated her so far I think she would prefer an Omega over you."

"I'm doing the right thing and you know that, this discussion is over. Go and get ready for the pack meeting we have a lot to discuss."

I backed away from the house, I knew they were arguing about me but other than that it didn't make any sense; Luke said that Jamie and I were mates but we're not friends or mates or hommies or any other name. Jamie can't stand me and that's fine I just wish it didn't hurt so much every time he vocalised it. I was so confused Alpha and Omega meant nothing to me other than the letters in the Greek alphabet and I doubt they were reciting that. I mean I've heard of people calling aggressive and strong guys alpha males and I guess that suits Jamie but I have a weird feeling that it means more than just a frat boy nickname.
