i had been sitting in the living room for about 30 mins and i was ready to go. between the trips down memory lane and showing this woman all of our pictures together. mama ang was i guess trying to make a point to Quan fiancé. I'm trying to figure out why i thought she like the damn girl for goodness's sake i just played with kaiser as everyone talked and laughed.
"Dinner is almost ready i made your favorite Dreka," mama ang yelled out making Tanisha eyes lock with mines. me and her have said all of three words to each other since being in this room i didn't want her to see i was really hurt behind this whole thing. Quan didn't make the situation no better he was eyeballing me.
"So, I've heard so much about you mama ang have you and Quan pictures everywhere," Tanisha smiled i couldn't quite tell if she was being serious or being a bitch. but i decided to take the high road and just smile back.
"Yeah, i guess it's just hard for the family to let go of the past,"
"tuh tell me about it," she snapped making Quan grab her waist. i simply ignore her little rude comment i wanted no smoke with her.
"I'll just go help mama ang," i smiled getting up grabbing my son and walking in the kitchen with mama ang. "Hey ma" i smiled hugging her.
"hey daughter why aren't you in there getting to know Tanisha," she asked.
"Uhm well i trust you all judgement about her so I'm going to suspect she is a good person without giving her the third degree you know."
"Look she is a nice girl but i don't think she is ready to be my son wife," mama ang snapped rolling her eyes " I've been waiting on you two to make up already and for him to stop hiding his true feelings for you. but when he brought her home and told us about the proposal i didn't want to not support my son decision but i can't take it anymore." she finally told the truth.
"Is that why you called me over," i asked.
"Me and your mother have been trying to get a feel from this girl and she gives fake... but i could be wrong,"
"Maybe you are mama ang me and Quan just isn't going to work anymore it's time for everyone to move past it like he has and I'm trying to." i told her going to set the table the doorbell rang as my mother came in with her famous peach cobbler.
"ohhh he mama Willams," Tanisha exclaimed going to hug my mother i looked over at mama ang and she gave me the i told u so look. i rolled my eyes as i seen my mother embrace this girl like she was one of her own.
"You look so good baby i hope u keeping my baby Quan over here happy as can be," my mother smiled.
"Always that how i got the rock," she smiled, and they high fived like homegirls. this shit was making me sick to my stomach i tried to ignore their extra friendliness. but it was hard but when my mother laid eyes on me my eyes burned red because why would she be all buddy buddy with this girl.
"Hey baby" my mother came towards me with a soothing voice she tried to hug me but i just pushed her off of me it's one thing to be nice, but all of this was just too much for me. "Dreka I'm sorry baby,"
i didn't want to hear it i went straight to mama ang running and crying in her arms it hurt seeing this shit play out in my face this was like a slap in the face to me.
"it's okay you know your mama extra nice to everybody i been telling her about that bull, but she just insists on making her feel welcomed," mama ang rubbed my back.
"And I'm okay with that but seeing it up close and personal was just a hard pill to swallow,"
"Go in my bathroom and fix you face ill finish setting the table and getting dinner on the table. i nodded going to fix myself then coming to the table seeing everyone talking and laughing. i just sat there like an outcast in my use to be second family home. my mother and Tanisha relationship seemed to be really genuine on both sides. mama ang just kept giving me a sad glare as everyone joked and played around.
'Ding dong'
the doorbell stopped everyone from talking and laughing.
"I'll get it," mama ang stated getting up the room had fell silent waiting for her to arrive back "uhm Dreka i think your plus one is here," she stated with a really huge smile on her face and to my Suprise the guy from the hospital was standing at the door. i was I'm complete shock i told him i canalled the plans we had. i got up out my seat going to greet him with the most confused look on my face.
"heyyyy" i smiled hugging him "so you didn't get my message," i asked between my smiles.
"i did and i decided it was bullshit you invited me so i just came i hope I'm not intruding," he smiled at me warmly.
"Have a seat young man," mama ang smiled moving him to the table and the once laughing carefree atmosphere was now tense ass fuck.
"And your name is," my mama asked all friendly while giving me the side eye.
"Uhm people call me tank, but my government is Terell" he smiled flashing his pearly whites.
"You are really cute," mama ang damn near drooled on the table.
"so, where did yall meet," my mom asked.
"Uhm, she helps me find my son at the hospital... and i didn't get her name i just knew she was fine and i had to get to know her even if i fumbled it i just wanted to you know try." he smiled at me making me turn apple red.
"So, you are cute and charming... no complaints here," mama ang smiled looking right over at Quan.
"yoo ma you are showing out right now," Quan snapped.
"How am i showing out he is really handsome he looks like he can handle my daughter she has been needing to get handled for a while now.
"Wow... well dinner was nice you guys i think me and tank here should be get going ill come by in the morning to pick up kaiser nice seeing you all thanks for dinner congrats to Quan and Tanisha I'm hoping my invite doesn't get lost in the mail and I'll see you guys later." i tried to rush out grabbing tank hand and basically running out of house.
"Damn slow down girl i didn't even get to warm my damn seat the way you ran out of there,"
"Next time i cancel plans with you... you do not just show up without so much as a text that is a little weird and creepy." i snapped.
"i get that but i just never knew when i was going to get the opportunity to see you again or even come close to a date with you so i just took a leap of faith."
"well, that leap of faith is one major red flag for me goodnight tank," i snapped getting in my car and speeding off.
