Chapter 7- Penguins and Face Plants

Calum's POV

I haven't seen Ashton for two days and with Michael not being very well I have no one to play soccer with. I hated sitting on the bus on my own but I had to seeing as if I thought about it I only had two real friends, Ashton and Michael. Today our year was going on a field trip to Sydney for a whole week an I couldn't need it more. Ever since our near kiss I haven't stopped thinking about Mellie. Would it be a really bad idea if I made a move on her today?

The bus stopped with a jolt and all the tired looking children spilled out. There standing by the front double doors was Mellie wearing a pair of black skinny jeans which were ripped at the knees and a white and black baseball t-shirt, in my opinion she looked beautiful. All the other girls picked on Mellie because she was different but I think they were just jealous. Mellie turned around to face me, she smiled and gave a small wave. This was my chance, I slowly started walking towards Mellie waving as I came closer she started frowning at me, that's when I realized that she wasn't waving at me from the start, I turned around to see Rosa standing behind me laughing. My cheeks went from pink to tomato, Mellie and Rosa kept giggling as they walked past me onto the bus.

Because Michael wasn't here I had to sit next to the weird new kid who had these weird green glasses, uurrrgggghhh my social status was falling so far that it would reach hell. The weird new kid was called Luke or something but to be honest I didn't really care. He as listening to this heavy metal music which was so loud that I didn't even need earphones to listen to it, his dirty blonde hair which was swept over to the left hand side of his face he looked as though he was 12 years old why would he be in year 9?

It would take us about 35 minutes to get to the Sea Life aquarium in Sydney. Mellie was sat next her ginger best friend Rosa three seats in front of me. I felt a poke in my ribs, it was the new kid getting my attention, I turned to face him.

"What?" I asked a little to harshly.

"Umm.. I was just wondering do they have penguins at the aquarium?" He asked in a squeaky high pitched voice.

"I don't know, google it!" I replied in frustration with the weird new kid, "What's your name new kid?".

"Its Luke" He said with a smile "Luke Hemmings."

Mellie's POV

Calum smiled and waved at me, OMFG he actually acknowledged me even though I was waving at Rosa. The only person who knew about my love for Calum was Rosa so when he blushed at the fact that he got embarrassed over me it made my stomach flip. Rosa said that she totally ships us and that I should just make a move already. Rosa kept turning around to see what Calum was doing and every time she said that he was staring at us and every time I blushed. It was my first time going to the Sea Life aquarium and I cant wait, penguins are my life in fact I even have posters of penguins on my bedroom walls.

The bus slowly came to a stop and everyone poured off the vehicle. Calum was one of the last to get off the bus he was in a heated conversation with the new boy who had blonde hair which was pulled into a long emoish fringe, he looked cute but he was no where near Calum's level. I didn't realize I was staring until Nicole shoved onto the sidewalk, my face hit the floor first, lying flat out on the ground I could still hear everyone laughing at me. A pair of hands grabbed my waist and pulled me off the floor, I thought it was Rosa so I just hugged the person that helped me, but I was wrong it was Calum. Great I thought, I was hugging my crush in front of everyone! I tried to pull away but Calum didn't let go, he held onto me tightly worried that if I let go I would fall again.
