Chapter 8- The Bro Code

Luke's POV

I hated changing school because i always got bullied and treated like dirt, i could tell by the way that the Asian kid sitting next to me didn't like me.

He kept glancing at two girls sat three or fours seats in front of us, maybe one of them is his girlfriend? The ginger girl turned around and looked straight at us, she is beautiful, her deep brown eyes and pale complexion suited her fiery red hair. She was wearing a red and black checked flannel shirt with a pair of black skinny jeans, her hair was falling loosely around her shoulders. But that wasn't the most striking bit, her brown eyes were framed with thick winged black eye liner making them stand out on her face. She looked so different from all the other girls at this school, she wasn't afraid to be who she really was and not a fake clone. Every time the ginger girl turned around and looked at us she whispered something into her friends ear. Aaaaaa so her friend liked the Asian boy, that made sense and by the way that the boy was looking at them he must like her back. I really could use some friends so, i might as well be nice to this Asian kid. Seeing as i don't know his name i would have to poke him to get his attention.

"What?" He asked a little to harshly.

What can i say ?? We have no common interests!

"Umm.. I was wondering do they have penguins at the aquarium?" I smiled at the thought of penguins, i love them. They are so cute and cuddly, if you could have them as pets i would!

"I don't know google it!" He replied, i was shocked why was he being so mean i only asked him a reasonable question. I could tell that he was guilty it was all over his face.

"What's your name new kid?" He asked me trying to recover our terrible conversation.

"It's Luke, Luke Hemmings." I said with a smile. Most kids hate their names their parents give them but i actually quite liked mine.

"Hi Luke I'm Calum, Calum Hood" Calum said mocking me, he seemed nice so i paused my music to carry on talking to him.

"Why are you staring at those girls in front of us?" I asked wondering what was so fascinating about them.

"What do you mean in not staring!" Calum huffed blushing as he spoke.

"Your blushing dude" laughing i clicked on the camera app and showed Calum his red face. Doing that only made his face redder.

"So which one do you like?" i questioned wanting to know about the ginger girl.

"Um if you have to know Mellie, she's the one with the brown wavy hair and that's Rosa her best friend" Calum said pointing at the girls. Oh Rosa that's a pretty name, i smiled internally knowing a little about the ginger girl.

"So is Mellie your girlfriend?" I asked prodding the conversation. Calum just looked at me as if i'd were crazy.

"I'll take that as a no then" I said with a smirk.

After speaking to Calum for another 10 minutes I found out that he is in fact not Asian but Kiwi and that he and his best friend Michael go to this school. I asked about Mellie and that if he likes her he should just go and talk to her.

"OK Luke its not that easy, the thing is that I'm best friends with her older brother and to make things worse im his only friend! He has never told me that his sister is off limits but it's the unwritten rule of the Bro Code, never date a fellow brother's sister or mom."

"Wait that's a thing i just thought it was off How I Met Your Mother?" I love that show its just so funny and well personally i think I'm going to be exactly like Ted when im older.

"Yes it's a thing! Anyway can we change the subject please im feeling depressed!"

I don't know what to say, we sat in silence for a while until he finally spoke up again.

"Why do you keep staring at Rosa?" Calum asked smirking at me.

"Um because she beautiful and lovely and well just nice on the eyes" Damn it why am i so socially awkward, who calls a person 'nice on the eyes' ? Calum didn't anything, he didn't need to it was like he could read my mind. The school bus slowed to a stop and Calum just looked at me as if to say 'Do you mind if i hang out with you?'

"Sure you can, as long as you make me seem cool and likable."

" That will be hard to do then!" Calum said mocking me, he just picked up his bag and wandered off the bus.
