Jesse P.O.V:
She just said it, with no remorse or anything. She sat back in her chair, rocking back and forth, not having a care in the world. Lukas surprisingly didn't step away from her after she said that. He just stared, blankly, almost as if he was planning on what he was gonna say.
"Jokes... I was joking.." she flipped through one of the books.
"Joking?!" Petra frowned, looking to the rest of us with a bewildered look.
Milo slapped her on the back of the head, Rain pouting from the pain of it as she rubbed the bump that was forming.
Milo sighed in his hand, placing his hand on the girl's shoulder, "I also told you to stop making your terrible jokes. You do realize you've just met these people right? You'll scare them off. They could be the key to helping us change this stupid islands way of living"
"Well I thought it was funny..." she continued to sulk in her seat.
"Anyways... Don't mind her, she's always been like this. But to answer your question seriously, Rain isn't welcomed here at Sky City"
"We got that much, but why?" I asked.
Milo looked pretty nervous from my question, checking the windows and closing the curtains, almost as if he wanted no one to know about this.
He huddled us all together, minus Rain, "You all look like good people, so I'm trusting you with this information. What I'm about to tell you is top secret and cannot be told to anyone outside this room. Do you understand?"
"Hmmm... I'm not so sure we should get mingled into this Jesse" Ivor seemed skeptical.
"For once, I agree with Ivor. It could turn out bad" Petra surprisingly agreed with him.
"I-I'm not so sure guys. I don't think anything bad can happen from just knowing more about this girl, right Jesse" Lukas rubbed the back of his neck, avoiding eye contact with the group.
I peeked over at Rain, who was now doing push-ups. From what I got of her, she didn't seem all too bad. She definitely seemed a little... odd, but nothing wrong with that!
I crossed my heart, "I promise none of us will speak of the information you're about to give us"
Milo sighed in relief, "Thank you! Now well... this might get a little confusing but-"
Milo looked behind him, his gaze softening when he saw Rain exercising in their living room.
He cleared his throat, "Rain is... not a Sky person"
"She uh- Doesn't like the sky?" Lukas looked to the rest of us for confirmation on his question.
"No no not that! Sky person is-"
A jab to his side cut him off, making him yelp in pain.
"Rai- I mean... Child what was that for?!" Milo got up from the floor.
"You told them you'd tell them about why I'm not liked, not my whole backstory..." she rolled her eyes.
"Oh yes, of course... You see travelers, Rain is hated by basically everyone here because she's a thief"
Petra gasped, my eyes widened, Ivor giggled, and Lukas... he just stood there silently. I guess we all processed the information differently.
"Yes I know, shocking... She seems like such an innocent and sweet girl doesn't she" Milo spoke in a sort of mocking way.
Rain rolled her eyes, "Can it Milo... But yea, I'm a thief"
"But wouldn't people just seeing you be enough for them to know it's you?" Lukas raised his hand.
