Milo P.O.V:
"Forget it Milo! You won't ever get another chance like that! You're through with your builds here on Sky City!""Founder I-!"
"Throw him out guards. I don't have anything more to say to this pathetic man"
And just like that, my building privileges were revoked. I was tossed onto the street like a pile of garbage. Six months... Six months in that tiny prison cell, all for one block falling over the edge.
"Huh? What was that?"
Dark clouds formed over the city, bring down heavy rain. The people who were out hurried back into their houses, forgetting about what they were crafting. I walked back begrudgingly to my only achievement in this city, my Inn.
"How strange... rain here is usually so rare..."
As I walked down the alleyway that led to my Inn, I heard a strange cry.
"Hm? Hello?... What was that..." I mumbled to myself.
As I reached for the handle, I heard that strange cry again. I was terribly confused at first, until I looked up and saw what appeared to be a basket of some sort placed perfectly on our city's wall.
How on Earth did something get up there? Not to mention, why would someone place something there?
At first, I tried jumping up to see if I had the height to grab the edge of the wall, but to no avail. I remembered I had some dirt in my pocket, but..
If I'm caught building... it's over for me... But, I need to know what's up there...
My curiosity got the better of me, and I pulled out the six wood blocks I had on me.
"I just need to remember to get rid of them"
I jumped up, placing a block below me, and stacking up until I reached the top of the wall. It was there that I made eye contact with something, something that was life-changing... at least... for me it was.
"A... A child?"
She couldn't have been more than three. She was quite small, fitting in a basket while being bundled up in multiple blankets. She was whimpering from all the rain pouring down on her face, not to mention she was probably up there for awhile. When she laid her eyes on me, she suddenly stopped crying. Instead, she let out a cry for joy.
I looked behind me to make sure no one was around, "Alright kiddo, bare with me here..."
I carefully took the basket from the edge of the wall, making the child move around rapidly in the basket. I hissed at her, making her shut up with a pout on her lip. I quickly destroyed the wood underneath me and ran back into my Inn with the basket in my hands. I placed the basket in the middle of the room, closing all the curtain and locking all the windows.
"Okay... I think that's it..."
The child let out a cry again, wanting to be freed from the prison of blankets she was in. I unwrapped her from all of them, placing her gently on the ground. She wobbled a bit, before sticking both her arms out to her sides to gain balance. She started blubbering nonsense as she ran around the room, pretending she was some kind of vehicle of some sort. I sighed before I noticed a crumpled up note in the basket.
Hello, if you are reading this, we are no longer apart of the living. We could not handle the guilt anymore, and decided to leave. I'm sure you're curious as to why there is a child in a basket. This is Y/n, our daughter. She's only three, and we couldn't take it anymore, but we didn't want to bring her down with us. Please, take care of her for us, will you? Signed, L and M
