Zayn's POV

I went to sleep with a grin on my face, dreaming about Eve and the things we'd finally done. I couldn't believe we'd kissed twice, even though one was part of a game. We had an undeniable chemistry, but I'd told her we'd talk about it later.

The reason I did that was simply the lack of romantics in our environment that I'd planned so well in my head. The moment had to make all of this waiting worth it, and that just wasn't it. I would feel it when the time was right. Hopefully it would be soon. The baby was expected to be coming in a week, but it was very likely that he could arrive early or late. It was that element of surprise that kept everyone on the edge.

I remembered Eve having a cow when I helped her pack her hospital bag, having to triple check every item she would need. But I had a feeling that despite the excessive preparation, Eve wouldn't be ready.

I woke up to see her next to me, gripping onto a pillow like her life depended on it. I hopped out of the bed and gave her one last look before leaving our room, my stomach begging for something to eat. I wondered if this was how Eve felt all the time.

The kitchen was empty, most likely because everyone else was sleeping. Usually, I'd be sleeping too if we didn't have to work, but the excitement from yesterday was eating at me.

I opened the fridge and scanned my options, pulling out the milk so I could have a bowl of cereal. I hummed to myself as I pulled a clean bowl out of the dishwasher and turned to find a box of cereal.

"Goodmorning." I flinched when I heard a voice behind me, and recognized it as Liam's.

"You scared me, mate." I looked at him and saw that he looked happy, but serious at the same time.

"Sorry." He laughed at me for being a pansy.

"Want some cereal?" I offered since I already had everything out.

"No thanks, I'm actually glad I've got you alone."

Suddenly I was a bit confused, but mostly afraid that Liam was about murder me or something. I scratched the back of my neck nervously, but forced myself to look him in the eye. "Uh, why's that?"

"I need to talk to you." Without a word after that, Liam waved me over to the couch to sit down. That scared me a little bit more, because if we needed to sit down, it was a serious matter.

"Is something wrong?" I asked worriedly. My palms were even starting to get sweaty because I was so nervous that he was about to drop a bomb on on.

"No, nothing's wrong. I wanted to talk to you about Eve."

I froze when I heard him say her name. I was either going to end up with a black eye left eye or a black right eye. "W-what about her?"

Liam sighed as if he were about to say something he didn't want to say. "I've been thinking about you two, how close you are. I see the way you look at each other and I know for a fact you're in love. And at first I didn't want you to be around her because I was afraid that she'd get hurt, or lose focus on herself and the baby. But the more I think about it, you've helped her more than you've hurt her. I know you're good for her and she's good for you, and I can tell you'll love this baby when it comes."

I was shocked. What was he saying?

"So," He continued, "That's why I'm giving you my blessing and approval. I want both of you to be happy, and I think that'll be the case when you two are together." My jaw was unhinged for sure once I gathered what he was telling me.

"I-I don't know what to say."

"Do you love Eve?" He asked me with an expectant look.

"Yes, I do." I replied with confidence. I felt like a weight was being lifted off of my shoulders as soon as I said it.

"Are you afraid that she doesn't love you back?"

I nodded.

"She does. I promise you, I know my cousin and the look on her face when she sees you gives it right away."

Eve loved me. I loved Eve.

"I've been planning to tell her but I've chickened out every time." I admitted.

"Tell her now then." He nudged me. I blinked, making sure I wasn't just imagining this. "Go Zayn, you can do this."

"What if it goes wrong?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

Liam shook his head. "It won't." He clapped a hand on my shoulder and gave me a smile. "Go for it."

I nodded. "Thanks Li." I dashed out of the room, stopping by a mirror on the way to make sure I looked alright, which I did.

My mind was racing, blood pumping, my hands were shaking. This was the moment. This was it. I had Liam's approval, I had adrenaline on my side, the rest of the lads were sleeping, it was perfect.

I reached the door to our bedroom and took a shaky breathe, gripping the door handle in my hands before turning it and opening the door.

"Eve, I have to tell you something." I announced immediately without wasting a single second.

And that's when the shit hit the fan.

I didn't get a response, more of a shrieking sound. I looked to see a frightening sight in front of me. She was laid on the bed, her upper body propped up on her elbows. That wasn't the bad part. It was the fact that the bed was wet, and her face was filled with horror.

"Shit." I muttered.

"Zayn!" She shouted. "Get me to the hospital now! I think my water just broke."

"Shit, shit, shit." I kept muttering as I realized that this was actually happening.

I ran to her side to help her up out of the bed. "It's okay, it's going to be fine. Let's get you out of bed and I'll get your bag." I was calm on the outside, but I was panicked on the inside. I was so close to telling her, so close, and what happens? She goes into labor.

"How far apart are your contractions?" I asked her, remembering what I'd learned in those classes we'd taken.

"I haven't been counting. I thought I was just having random pains, and then I realized what was going on." She looked so scared that it was making me scared.

"Calm down, okay? Let me get Liam and the rest of the boys can meet us at the hospital." I looked into her fearful eyes and ran out of the room, full of a different kind of adrenaline.

"Liam!" I yelled out into the house. "Liam!"

"What?" He yelled back, probably from the couch where I'd left him.

"Get your arse over here right now! Eve's water broke and we need to get to the hospital!" I shouted. Within seconds, literally seconds, Liam was sprinting inside our room with me right behind him.

"Ow! This hurts so bad!" Eve cried out in pain as she tried to get some shoes on.

"You get her into your car and I'll grab the bag. I'll meet you in the car. You're driving." I told Liam and he nodded. We really should have done some sort of drill or something because I could barely think straight. This morning had gone from completely chilled out to stressful and crazy in a matter of minutes.

And just when I was about to tell her too.
