"I felt it shelter to speak to you." - Emily Dickinson
"Dad!" I run towards my dad, running into his arms. Him engulfing me in a hug immediately, I've missed him so much.
"Lilitu," he kisses the right side of my head. Pulling away from the hug, putting his hands on both sides of my face.
Seeing how much I've changed, while he wasn't around. I wish Nevermore wasn't a boarding school, I wish it was like a normal school. So I could see him everyday.
He hugs me again, "I've missed you, Lilitu."
"I've missed you too," I've been waiting for parent's weekend for the last month, I've been counting down to it. I was, we still haven't gotten our phones back. Hopefully today.
We stop hugging, and start walking towards the building.
"How's school been?"
"Boring as usual."
"Nothing new?"
"Not really."
"Not even the girl you like or that monster?"
"Well, we're together. Not officially," I say, articulating the not officially part very clearly. It isn't official, but I can wait.
Everything can go at her preferred speed, I'll adjust myself to what she wants. She'll probably set a couple boundaries, which I'd be happy to obey.
Anything that she wants.
Anything that makes her happy.
"And that monster I think it's the sheriff's son," he looks at me in confusion. He must think I'm delusional, I'm not far from delusional to be honest.
"Isn't he a... normie?" He tries to find the word. No one used the word normie when he was my age.
"You knew his mom," I say. "Francois, she was a Hyde."
"Oh, you did your research," we arrive at the quad. We stand under the roof in the shade, shielded for the sun. I can handle the sunlight, every second I spend in the sun. I control my body with my mind, to make sure I don't get blown up by the sun.
