Their Destiny - Atreus

Chapter Three // Atreus's Hunting Training (P2)

In the far corner of a small cave, Atreus and Juniper notices a skillfully made shrine on which a story from northern legends is drawn. The shrine is closed with two shutters. "Look here." Kratos says as he opens the shutters.

"Oh look, it's Skoll & Hati – the giant wolves who chase the sun and moon. Where did they come from? How did they get up there? What's happening there at the end? They eat the sun and moon and then everybody fights?" Atreus continues to ask as he writes in his book. Juniper continues stare at shrine in wonder and curiosity.

'Has my father told me about this before...?' She thought before shaking her head and walks off with Atreus and Kratos. She starts to mess with her necklaces. An nervous habit that she got from her mother when watched her mess with the necklace. The girl is then stopped by a hand on shoulder and looks over to see Kratos looking at her with Atreus beside him looking concerned.

"Are you okay, girl?" The god asked her and Juniper weakly smiled, trying not to worry him even though it doesn't show on his face. "Yeah, I'm just fine."

After a short wander, the three find the deer again. "Wait for my mark," Kratos tells the boy as he hands him his bow back."Relax. Do not think of it as an animal. It is simply a target. Clear your mind. Steady your aim and breathe in. Exhale and release."

Atreus waits a moment before finally letting go of the arrow and shoots the deer in the side making it fall over. "I got it." He says with a big smile as he turns towards his best friend and father. Juniper smiles back at him as Kratos says, "Good."

They start to walk towards the deer. "It's... it's still alive." Atreus says and the father and son kneel in front of it as Juniper quietly backs away for a moment. "Your knife," Kratos tells the boy. When Atreus gets it out, he tries to hand it towards his father. "No. Finish what you started."

Atreus shakily grips the knife in his hands, it slowly reaches the deer but stops. "I can't..." He says which made Juniper smile a bit. Atreus always had a kind and loving heart when it came to this which made Juniper feel so lucky to have him as a best friend. Kratos places his hands over Atreus's and they slowly kill the deer. He let's go and Atreus finishes it off.

"I..." Atreus tries to speak but couldn't find the words and stays silent. Juniper goes over to him, kneels beside him and places a comforting hand on his shoulder. Kratos slowly tries to do the same but stops himself and instead takes the knife out of the deer and hands it towards Atreus.

Suddenly, a huge hand tries to grab the dead deer. Atreus goes to stab the hand but it tosses him away along with Juniper.

"Atreus! Juniper!" When Juniper lands on the ground, she hits her head hard and falls unconscious before hearing Atreus call her name. "Juniper!"

A young Juniper watches as her sister starts to hunt with her mother. 'Why does this feel so familiar?' She thought and instantly remembered. 'This is the day mother starts to teach us about our powers,' she thought in head, Arianna ruffles her long hair.

"What you thinking about, Juni?" She asks and the young girl just smiles up at her mother. "Nothing, mother. Just thinking of some good memories." She tells her and Arianna smiles at her little girl. "Yeah? Well, be ready to make new ones, girls."

Iris and Juniper glanced at each other at her words and smiled at each other. As the three women got deeper into the Mystic Forest of their realm: Anglosdom or the Kingdom of Angels. Anglosdom is a realm for Mal'akh/Malakim or Angels only. Sure there are some Giants but still.

"Why are we heading into the Mystic Forest instead of training at home with father, mother?" Iris asks as they continued to walk. "Shh," Arianna kneels and the girls follows suit. "Look," They all look at crystal dragons with angelic wings.

"Are we going to hunt them?" Juniper asks, nervously, not wanting to kill the beautiful creatures and Arianna laughs softly at her little girl. "No," she sighs in relief. "We're going to bond with them."

"How?" Both girls asks. "We Mal'akh's, have a special ability on how to connect and communicate with animals easily. From big dragons to small lizards." Arianna explains and she starts to transform into her Mal'akh form. Her brown hair starts to glow a little as shiny, big white wings spout out of her back and a white halo appears over her head with crystals on it. Juniper was always amazed at her mother's Mal'akh form when she changed and she hoped that her form would be just as beautiful.

"Now watch," Arianna said as she slowly walked towards a crystal dragon. It turns it's head towards and the dragon starts to walk towards her. When her hand reached the dragon's nose, it starts to nuzzle into her hand and Arianna smiles as she starts to rub it's head. "See, now you try."

Iris decides to go first and transforms into her Mal'akh form which were light blue wings and blue halo. She starts to approach a dragon a bit bigger than her and reaches her hand out towards it and just touches it. The creature immediately leans into her touch and licks her hand making the girl smile.

"I did it, mother!" Iris shouts with a big smile and Arianna smiles back at her before turning towards Juniper. "Now it's your sister's turn," Juniper nervously shakes before transforming. Her transformation was rather different from her sister and mother. Juniper's wings were white but they were gold at the tips and her halo was a mix of white and gold spirals.

After she transformed, the memory started to change. Instead of being in the Mystic Forest, she was now in her family's big library with a big white tree in the middle. 'What am I doing here in front of the Gacia Tree? Father and mother never let me near this when we were in the library.' She thought as a pink leaf falls from the tree and floats in front of her.

A pink glow comes from it and Juniper saw a light flash into her eyes. She soon saw flashes of her and Atreus but older. One shows them holding hands while walking around a woodsy area. Another shows Atreus hugging Juniper tightly as they looked at something in sadness. The last showed Atreus kissing Juniper on the cheek before grabbing her hand and starts to walk off somewhere.

Juniper looked at the scenes in shock and starts to feel something on her wrist. When she looked down, she saw a golden chain on her wrist. 'What is this? Doesn't mother and father have this?' The girl watched as the chain starts to glow brighter and the light blinds her.

Juniper seems to be seeing into the future and now has a unknown golden chain around her wrist. Let's just wait and see what the future holds for her and Atreus. I'll see you lovely stars in Chapter Four.
