You were running to catch up with Wade, who had made it like a game of tag to see who could get to Ambrose the fastest.  And sadly, the college football player was, in fact, faster than you.  Like Lester had told you, there was a town just up ahead.  It looked like a small town ripped from a movie about the '70s and '80s.

"Slow down speedy," Carly called out to you.  "God!"

"Hey, Miss Ambrose," Wade said, pointing at a poster.

It was displaying an ad for the town's version of 'Miss America,' or 'Miss Universe.'  Wade stopped to look at it so that Carly could catch up, and you looked around at your new surroundings.  So far, this little trip had been like what you were used to before... the accident.  But this was where things deviated from your old life.  You had never been to a town like this before.

"Wonder how many teeth you have to win that one," Wade chuckled.

Carly giggled, and you noticed something.

"Hey, a pet store!"

"Oh great," Wade sighed.

You jogged over, and Carly quickly followed.  Cute animals, what wasn't there to love?

"Puppies," you cheered.

There was a glass cage, and sleeping inside were newborn puppies.  They didn't have any fur, so the darker spots in their skin were apparent.  Their tails were wagging, and you had already named every one.

"They're cute, adorable.  Maybe next time.  Come on," Wade said, directing you away from the pet store.

As your trio walked around, Carly's phone started ringing.  She quickly stopped moving, and held the small cellular device up to her ear.

"Hello," she asked.

"Hey, it's me," Paige greeted.  "We're heading back."

"Really, why?  What happened?"

"Traffic."

Carly looked at you and Wade, still walking around.  You were peering into the windows of a local store, and Wade was looking around.  It felt like there was no one here.

"Hey, did you get that fan belt thing or whatever," Paige questioned.

"No, we can't find that gas station.  I don't know where we're going right now," Carly admitted.

"Where do you want us to pick you up?"

"Why don't you just head up the road that we got off at the campsite?  It's washed out at the end.  Call us when you get there, we'll meet you.  We can just camp in the same place as yesterday, but, you know, away from that pet cemetery."

"Cool, see you then."

"Hey, there's that House of Wax," Wade pointed out.

"Wade, what about that fan belt," Carly asked.

"We can't find the gas station," he answered.

"Why don't we ask someone at the church," you suggested.

You pointed at the holy building, and everyone began to make their way over.  You could already hear voices and music from inside, and so your trio made your way up the stairs.

"Let us all bow our heads," a voice said from inside.  "And say a prayer for our deceased friend."

Whelp, Wade was opening the door.  You reached out to stop him since they were clearly doing something emotional in there.  But it was too late.

The door opened, and everyone inside stopped.  The priest looked at you, annoyed, and the lady playing the piano stopped her music.  There was a casket at the front of the room, and all the funeral goers stayed quiet.  There was a single man in a black suit kneeling in front of the casket.  He turned around a bit, and glared at Wade.

"Oh, we should go," Carly advised.

Wade quickly closed the door, and you were already standing on the sidewalk, fear etched into your face.  Carly and Wade quickly joined you, embarrassed as hell.

"What do we do," Wade asked.  "Just wait out here?"

"It feels messed up waiting outside of a church for a funeral to end," you stated.  "We can just find the gas station ourselves, right?"

Before Carly could give her input, the door opened once more, and the man in the suit walked out.

"Hey man, sorry about walking in.  We didn't know," Wade tried to defend.

"You shouldn' have walked in," the man said angrily.

"Yeah, I know.  It's just, we have car trouble and we're not from this town."

"We were actually looking for a guy named Bo," Carly added.  "He works at the gas station."

"You found him," the man told her.

"Well," Wade cleared his throat.  "We need a fan belt.  We were camping up the road and-"

"A fan belt," Bo questioned.

"Yeah," Wade responded.

"You walk in on a funeral for a fuckin' fan belt," Bo asked angrily.  "Well, lemme jus' go dump the casket in the ground n' I'll be right there."

"We really are sorry sir," you chimed in.

Bo's eyes softened as he looked at you, then he turned and went back in the church.

"That's twice today.  I'm an asshole," Wade muttered.

"What if we go check out that wax place," you suggested.  "It'll kill some time.  We already know Bo's busy."

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.  The doors to the church opened once more, and Bo walked back out.

"Hey, 'm sorry.  Ya know, someone very special to me passed, n' I didn' mean to take it out on you," he apologized.

"No no no no, it's totally understandable," Carly told him.

"I reckon thin's 'll wrap up soon.  Why don' I meet you guys back at the station in about a half?"

"Where is the station," you asked.

"Just aroun' that corner," Bo pointed.

"We were so close, and yet so far," you muttered.

"Thank you, that'd be great," Wade told him.

Bo walked back into the church, and your trio began to make your way back to the sidewalk.

"Looks like your fan club's gotten a little bigger," Wade said suddenly.

"Are you serious," Carly asked him.

"Yeah.  I am serious.  And it's obvious Dalton still has a crush on you too."

"Oh my god," you sighed

"Okay, that's three times today.  You're an asshole," Carly deadpanned.

"But I'm still your favorite asshole, right?"

"Always," Carly giggled.  "Now lets go see your famous House of Wax."

Wade smiled and you started to jog over.  It was a large house with a sign that read, go figure, 'HOUSE OF WAX.'  It was pretty hard to miss.  Soon enough, it was like another race between you and Wade.  Carly jogged to catch up, but she stayed behind the two of you.
