After I woke up Ali who yet again forgot her birthday but was up and ready excited on mine I made my way downstairs to the sitting room where mother, father, and grams was. Walburga told me to call her grams and it took me awhile before I did.
"Hello Dragon" I looked up and greeted my father while fiddling with the small black velvet box in my hand.
There was another velvet box which was bigger but was hidden away. I was definitely nervous and fidgety. For the past six years Talia wouldn't let any of us get her anything.
Especially if it was expensive she'd throw a fit saying we shouldn't spend so much money on her.
We resorted to getting her books on potions and other things. When I argued about the fact that she gave me a ring every year but wouldn't let me give her anything she pouted until I gave in.
She said in her last life she was absolutely terrible at potions. Snape didn't like her in fact he hated her but he did protect her because he felt like he owed it to Lily Potter.
Talia reminded Snape of James Potter and since James and his friends pranked him all of the time which was actually bullying he grew a strong hatred for him and his friends.
Due to the glamour Talia looked like a gender bent version of James not including the eyes which she got from Lily.
Snape always saw her as James and with the blocks and compulsions it made her terrible at it giving him yet another reason to hate her.
I didn't think it was fair to Ali. Just because James and his friends ruined his life doesn't mean he should've taken it out on Ali.
I knew she wouldn't agree with my thought process if she knew. Snape might be my godfather but if he hates my soulmate then he can stay away from both of us.
To project your hate and anger of someone else onto someone innocent is rude and childish. I get why he'd be angry at James but Talia had nothing to do with that. Hell she wasn't even thought of at the time.
"Nervous?" Grams asked breaking me out of my thoughts. I looked at her and nodded still fiddling with the box.
Betrothed jewelry.
What purebloods give to the person they want as their betrothed. It's usually the boys who give the jewelry and the girls can either accept it or reject it.
Talia chose my eleventh birthday to give me one of the Pendragon family rings. The Pendragon's are the most important family in history because they're royalty.
The ring from the Pendragon family is like a form of betrothed jewelry. The rings she's given me over the years formed into one complete ring. Most would see us as too young to be doing such a thing but we're from the magical world.
Purebloods are usually engaged before they turn seventeen. When they turn seventeen they're legal considered an adult. So it's not unusual for two purebloods to already be giving betrothed jewelry.
We let no one know we were soulmates. Soulmates are very rare and sacred and if Dumbledore knew who knows what would happen.
Talia isn't a mean person and she rarely gets angry or anything. There's this one person that's an exception, I've had to stop Talia from hexing them.
You will see her soon though in a few months to be exact.
"Good morning everyone" I turned seeing Talia wearing the outfit mother and grams forced her to wear for today.
She was not happy when she found out she would have to wear it. It was a casual dress in the magical world but to her it was still annoying and uncomfortable.
