Shadowed Frontiers

Kronos Island (Part 1.)

Shadow was on another mission from G.U.N. again. After the damage Eggman had done to Mobius, he had to stay back and help fix things, but he's back to being an agent for G.U.N. in order to make a living.

"Agent Shadow, can you hear me?"

"Yes."

"Drop off in four minutes."

They were there to locate a chaos emerald to act as a power source for a new weapon they were planning to use against Eggman as a preemptive strike to his empire.

He patiently waited, as the helicopter they were in drifted closer and closer to the Starfall isles. There were many myths and legends surrounding these islands and he wonders if these are true.

Suddenly, the helicopter is thrown off balance by a mysterious force as the helicopter receives a distress signal from the tornado.

"We're losing balance!--" The pilot yelled, as all of them got sucked into a portal.

He was spat out in a place he was definitely not expecting. "The Ark?" He says out loud. But how? As he was still thinking, a figure ran up to him and covered him with her soft hands. He was caught off guard. "Guess who?" The figure playfully said, as Shadow knew this sensation all too well. "Maria?" He asks. "That's right!" She says, releasing her grip.

Footsteps were heard from the hallways as multiple gun soldiers ran into the room, holding their guns out in an offensive position. "Project Shadow is to be contained immediately. Maria Robotnik, step back from the subject immediately or we will open fire." One of them said, as Maria pushed Shadow and began running. "Run, Shadow! Run!" She shouts, but Shadow stood firm. "No..." He started to tear up. "NOT AGAIN!" He initiated a Chaos Blast and knocked the soldiers away. "Fire at will!" The commander states as numerous officers that he knew started shooting at him... wait, why are they here?

He retorted by using a Chaos Magic on the soldiers, knocking the bullets back at them. He walked towards them and stared them down. "I am the ultimate life form, and I will NOT be contained." The scenario changes as the space around him starts shifting, this time in an escape pod. The damn pod he knew all too well.

"Shadow, give the people below a second chance..." Maria said, tears in her eyes. "Wait, NO!" He seemed powerless against the situation. He watched as she gets shot again, sending him down to Earth. He sat, crying as the pod crashing into land, knocking him out.

He opened his eyes, realizing that he wasn't captured; quite the opposite, actually.

"Hey, Shadz! You woke up!" Sonic's voice knocked on his eardrums.

"I told you to stop using that stupid nickname..." He groans, getting up, feeling more and more rejuvenated as his healing factor worked its magic. "You have done what many consider... impossible." A voice rang. Shadow immediately gets into a fighting stance in alarm, while Sonic shrugs and keeps up a relaxed stance.

"Who's there?!" Shadow calls out to the voice, chaos energy surrounding his hands on the offensive.

"You are the key." The voice did not answer the question. 

"Hello, creepy sky voice? Can you tell me how to save my friends?!" Sonic calls out.

"Collect the relics you call "emeralds". Destroy the titans. Tear down the walls between dimensions."

"Why should we trust you?!" Shadow narrowed his eyes, the energy surrounding his hands glowing brighter.

"C'mon Shadow, at least we have a direction..." Sonic sighs.
