Ares Island (Part 2)

Shadow kept searching for an exit. Ever since killing Eggman, the voice kept whispering to him. If any other person was in his place they would have gone insane.

Not him, though.

He flew around Cyberspace in a chain of homing dashes, and looked for the exit. "This realm must be a containment unit if it doesn't have an exit..." He thought, still skating. "Right." He thought back, to when Sage told him about the end.

"I see now." Sage was trying to protect Eggman from this End by trapping him in this realm. This wasn't a base of operations; far from it. It was a bunker in case something went wrong.

~with Sonic~

Sonic tried to find the cage containing Tails.

"C'mon Tails... buddy... where are you?" He asked, still looking around.

As soon as he heard some glitching, he stopped, looking in front of him. "How did this knucklehead get here?" He thought, observing the cage. "Shadow broke Amy's cage by using a Chaos attack. I can't do one of those unless I'm supplied with some sort of Chaos Energy.

Sonic threw everything he had at the cage, shattering it, feeling the cyber corruption entering his body. "Agh..." He moaned in pain, clutching his left arm, which was now surrounded in red and black.

Knuckles looks bewildered yet unimpressed at the same time. "Some rescue," he complained. "I'm still half ghost!" He looks at Sonic, who nervously chuckles, scratching the back of his head.

"Sorry Knux, same thing happened with Amy. Still have no idea how to solve this- AGH!" He shouts as the pain levels shot through the roof. His hold on his left arm tightens.

"Whoa, are you okay?" Knuckles asked. "Do I look okay to you?" Sonic sighs, mildly infuriated by that comment.

"Where's Shadow?" Knuckles asks.

"Shadow's been doing his own shit lately... he threatened a fucking child!" Sonic says to Knuckles.

"What?! I mean, that sounds like what Shadow would do, but... even he has morals, right?!" Knuckles is shook. Shadow wouldn't do that, right?

~with Shadow~

Shadow grunts in exhaustion. He'd ran out of options.

He found the portal, yes, but it was... locked?

"You have been trapped. Just as I was, hedgehog." The voice told Shadow.

"So that's who you are, huh." Shadow smirks.

"Since time immemorial I have LANGUISHED here, festering my hatred..." The End continues its monologue. "Waiting for a time where someone foolish enough to step foot on the isles opens the gate to Cyberspace, and free me."

"Free me, ultimate life form."

"I serve no one. I am my own master."

"Very well. You are just as foolish as your blue friend. Unable to exit Cyberspace. You will spend the rest of your immortality here, trapped."

"If it is for the rest of the world, then I'd gladly do this. I still have you to annoy me, don't I?"

"..." The End shuts its mouth, knowing that it won't be able to manipulate the dark hedgehog.

It thinks.

In a last ditch effort, it manipulates the Cyber Corruption, causing the pain to spike through Shadow's veins. "AGH!" Shadow lets out a pained shout, looking at the red that appeared.

"Y-you did this, didn't you?" Shadow questions the end.

"If you will not listen to reason...

Then I shall torture you into becoming a suitable vessel."

"AGH-" Shadow's cry of pain was muffled by the cyber corruption reaching his mouth.

As such, Sonic continues his journey into Ares Island.

I'll end it off here since this book has been without updates for way too long. Sorry about that, by the way. I ran out of creative juice for some reason.

Besides, the story will not change until Shadow gets freed, so I'll skip over Ares until AFTER the boss fight.
