"Okay bye mom I'll see you next week" I said embracing her in a hug. "Bye baby and don't skip school, I'm gonna have James check on you though so I know you won't do anything stupid" she smiled putting the last of her luggage into the trunk. "Yes ma I won't do anything dumb" I reassured. "Okay bye baby I love you" she kissed my cheek before sitting in front of the wheel. I said I love you back before walking back into the house.
My mom was going to Florida to see my grandma since she was sick. I would've gone too but everyone insisted that since I'm nearly done with senior year I should really be putting the work in to get to a good college.
It was already late at night so I decided I was just gonna go straight to sleep. I can't lie tho I wasn't excited for school not in the slightest but I mean the year is nearly over.

"Mel, I gotta get to class but I'll see you at math" my friend Jasmine announced. "Okay bye" I said then she walked away from my locker. Just as I got my copy out of my bag my locker door slammed shut. I immediately rolled my eyes when I saw who it was. "Nahmir fuck do you want?" I said opening my locker back up. "What's this I'm hearing about you and Ava beefing?" he said closing my locker down again. I couldn't help but look behind him and saw a group of girls laughing, Ava being one of them.
"Look she was talking like she knows me so I put her in her place" I said opening my locker back up and putting the copy in. "So you cussed her out?" He stupidly questioned. I nodded my head. "You didn't have to do all that being disrespectful and shit" he continued. "I'm disrespectful nigga you the worst in the school, how many times you been suspended? huh" I fought. He grabbed onto my wrist making sure I won't walk away. "Who the fuck is you talking" he said loudly making some people around stare. "You nigga" I said yanking my arm back and walking to class. That nigga got me fucked up talking about I'm disrespectful.

"Okay class so today you're going to be doing a project about any book we've read this and last year. It's due May 1st so you have 3 weeks to do it" Ms Tee said. I immediately locked eyes with Vivian thinking we could partner up together. "Oh and I already picked the pairs so Kayla you're with Sam, Vivian and Jack, Massey and Tristan, Favour and Cj, Nick and Melody, Simon and Cordae and lastly Bryson and Shawn" she said reading the names off the list. Why do I have to work with himmmmm. I hate that nigga, he always acting tough and be controlling me like he my damn dad.
While everyone was moving seats I walked up to the teacher's desk. "Miss do I really have to work with him" I said hoping she would change her mind. "Yes Melody, unfortunately there is no one I could switch you with and plus you are a smart student the person you work with shouldn't affect how you work" she said looking straight at me. "Do this project with him and I'll give you extra credit" I smiled before walking back to my seat.
