On day three, Soobin comes to visit him, voice barely above a whisper when he calls out for the younger.

Beomgyu makes the most minimalistic movement, peeking over his cover to see Soobin. He winces when pain runs all over his body after acknowledging his best friend, watching as Soobin takes a seat on the edge of his bed.

Beomgyu's face looks sunken and his cheeks are hollow, exhaustion wearing down his features, but Soobin stops a sharp intake of air at the sight.

Beomgyu knows he looks like something undead, his mirror is right next to their door. Every time he does his ritual of sleep, eat, sleep, he sees himself in the mirror on the way to place his plate of barely touched food outside his room.

He hates it, noticing how his collar bone sticks out more, wishing his eating habits would go back to normal so he could eat a happy and healthy meal.

It'd be the biggest meal of his life and he'd still want more too.

He snuggles back into the blankets once Soobin doesn't say anything, fighting for warmth. He feels deprived of it right now and no matter how desperately he traps his body within his cover, he's unable to find that missing comfort.

Strangely Beomgyu's omega whines when Soobin sits down, pulling his feet away from the alpha like he'd been burned.

Beomgyu might not be a fan of contact but his reaction is a massive exaggeration, even for him.

This is different than usual. His omega is telling him it's wrong, shaming him for having Soobin so close, like doing so is some kind of betrayal. He's never been interested in finding his alpha or starting a family but that's never been a reason for him to freak out at having Soobin near him.

It was only a few days ago he allowed Soobin to hug him and his omega keened at the touch, nothing has changed since then. Well, apart from his omega being a pain in his ass.

Soobin notices Beomgyu's unusual reaction and furrows his eyebrows before raising one. His eyes flicker over every part of the omega's concealed body, noting how tight Beomgyu has the cover gripped over him.

"How're you feeling?" He tilts his head, moving his position so one of his legs is crossed while the other dangles down the side of the bed.

Beomgyu burrows his head in the blanket and remains silent. He doesn't want to speak, feels unable to. If he tries, he reckons it'll sound hoarse and pathetic.

"Beomgyu," Soobin says his name calmly, placing his hand on Beomgyu's wrapped-up leg which causes Beomgyu to jolt away and lift his head.

Wrong.

Soobin pulls away, eyes wide in fear of doing something that'd make Beomgyu uncomfortable.

"Sorry." He frowns, nearly stuttering in embarrassment.

Beomgyu shakes his head, sighing deeply. Soobin shouldn't feel bad for doing nothing, but he can't help his reactions, his omega is acting for him. It hates the touch, even through a cover.

"Still sick," Beomgyu speaks. And he's right, his voice does come out hoarse. It uses up all his energy to say those two words and increases his headache tenfold.

Soobin watches him wince, seeing the pain Beomgyu is in and knowing he can't help is awful.

The heat radiating from Beomgyu's body is a lot, and yet he's insisting he's cold, pulling the cover closer whenever Soobin tries to convince him to let himself out of the entrapment. He's close to tears and nothing Soobin is doing is comforting him.

"You're burning up."

"I'm not burning up, I'm cold."

Soobin purses his lips, letting out a sigh that is deep within his lungs.
