Nurse Annie enters Beomgyu's room with a soft smile, a tray of food in one hand and a familiar clipboard with paper attached to it in the other.

"Hi, sweets, how are you feeling today?" she asks as she closes the door with her foot and shuffles over to him.

Beomgyu watches her every step, eyes heavy from the medicine the previous nurse had given him to calm him down. He blinks against the golden light of the lamp besides his bed, allowing his heavy eyes to adjust and using his tired arms to pull himself upright against the headrest.

"I came by earlier but you were sleeping, you must've been really tired." She chuckles as she places his tray on the nightstand beside his bed.

Beomgyu snorts as if to agree and stares at the food as she straightens out her bed sheet. He insisted it wasn't neccessary at first but now he doesn't bother, letting her dote over him like her mother instinct tells her to do.

"While you eat this, I'm going to ask you some questions... Is that okay?" She hands him his tray, not expecting a response considering this isn't her first time asking him those dumb questions over his stay here.

But Beomgyu's confused, he already answered the questions earlier. "Is it really neccessary to do this again? I've already done this once today and increasing the frequency won't make it anymore accurate."

The nurse tilts her head, concern and confusion mixed into her features. "You've already done this today?" she asks to clarify, showing the sheet with the same questions as the ones earlier to Beomgyu.

Beomgyu bites into the ham sandwich that's been cut into small squares, the dryness of the bread causing it to stick to the roof of his mouth and he struggles to push it off with his tongue. He hums out his confirmation and points to the board with his index finger and talks through a moutful of food, "Yes, beta Ryu went over them with me earlier."

The nurses eyes widen and she steps away from him, pulling her phone out the pocket of her dress and frantically tapping on the screen before she places it to her ear. Beomgyu watches her as an unsettling shiver runs from his shoulders and down his back. He shakes the sensation away with a shudder and tries to listen to her urgent whispers.

"Beomgyu, come with me." She ushers him out of his bed and grabs his forearm with practiced grace, staying as calm as she can.

Beomgyu swallows down the idle piece of bread in his mouth as he's pulled from his bed, feeling it force its way down his oesophagus before disappearing into his stomach.

He freezes in place, refusing to move without at least an answer to his question: "What's going on?"

"Beomgyu, no one working here goes by Ryu."

"But the woman--"

"She wasn't meant to be here, Beomgyu. You could be in danger." The nurse drags him towards the door urgently and Beomgyu pulls against her hold. "What are you doing? You can't stay here."

"Nuna." Beomgyu's eyes are filled with concern and his bottom lip trembles between his teeth.

She stops, noticing his fear and waits patiently (which is hard for her when everything in her body is telling her to take him somewhere safe and make sure he's okay). Beomgyu pulls up his sleeve and reveals the small pinprick on his arm that indicates the use of a needle. "She injected something... She said it'd help calm me down."

The nurses eyes widen and she drags him forward, with her other hand she stumbles to pick up her phone and type on her recent calls, where he sees his dad rang moments earlier.

"Sir, I think Beomgyu needs to be taken to the hospital. He mentioned the woman injected him with something, I think it'd be safe to check what she used." Beomgyu barely hears the other person on the line but the nurses repeated words of assent must mean his father agrees.
