I sat in the large vehicle, my heart hammering and a blank Chishiya across from me, my mind raced with thoughts. Why has he decided to suddenly stay away from me? Did I do something?

He said that it was for the plan, that can't be true. He talks to Kuina and she's in the plan.

He must feel uncomfortable after I told him my past. I know it was a bad idea. I looked at him trying to make eye contact in any hope that he must not hate me.

I waited.
I held it.
Nothing...

-

Chishiya sat in the moving vehicle completely confused, he had been for a while now.

How can a girl be strong even when they are broken?
Why did he actually think about her?
How can one girl haunt his mind so much?

So when she looked at him, he turned away.

Turned away from the thoughts.
Turned from the feelings.
Turned away from her.
Like he turns from everyone.

She cracked her knuckles absentmindedly, the sound filling the crowded car.
She always does that.

The car stopped stopped with hauntingly thick tension. The other beach members climbed out of the large four wheel drive, Chishiya moved first and I slowly followed behind. This was the first game that I have attended for a while. I was nervous though I knew in head and heart I had to be strong. With quickening strides I walked all the way towards the arena, blinding lights struck my eyes of a large stadium.

I walked towards the centre of the baseball field where everyone else was standing. People looked worriedly between each other, all except Chishiya who wore his signature smirk.
At least he is meant to help me.

Boiling Death
Rules: Escape the venue before it is destroyed

I heard the rules and immediately started running. In front of me, I could see Chishiya do the same, although as he ran it wasn't in a desperate attempt. It was almost in a calm way, each step was almost naturally robotic. I look back to see a massive geyser, full of water erupt, clearly this is what destroys the stadium. Finally the other contestants started running too, spreading slowly towards all exists of the stadium. The endless blue wave chased everyone as if it was a game of tag. Chishiya turned observing the wave that was created before continuing to run at a comfortable jog.

"Run faster you idiot, its coming our way," I instructed him as I puffed, its clear he isn't physically fit in anyway.

He did as I said though.

His legs went from a steady pace to a faster one, it was the most effort I had seen from him this whole time. We were almost at the edge of the stadium but the water chased us relentlessly. The violent waves hauntingly shook the ground with each movement. I ran as fast as possible passing Chishiya in a hurry. I grabbed his wrist in a hurry and his eyes widened slightly from the physical contact, though he made no move away from me.

The boiling water cause destruction throughout the whole stadium. Chunks of concrete fell around us, trapping us from the wave that would inevitably burn us. With the crash we both fell forward, the water surrounding us but never touching. Pain was in my head beating loudly like an African drum. I reached up towards my forehead crimson red liquid stinging my hands.

I turned around seeing Chishiya  he was splayed out a few meters from me, his hair was messy and his clothes torn from the impact. Though he seemed almost peaceful in his unconsciousness. His usual tense nature had fallen away, the tight lines on his face disappearing. He was beautiful.

I stood up, feeling the dizziness in my head. "Chishiya!" I stated walking closer to him. I shook him softly, in case he was injured. "Chishiya wake up."

His eyes fluttered open and a soft groan left his mouth. "Akari," he stated the words rolling off his tongue in a comfortable manner even though the situation was tense. He looked up at me behind his eyelashes and I stepped  away.

"Are you injured I questioned," I scanned his body and couldn't see anything.

"No I am fine," he said emotionlessly, before standing up. He looked around at the rubble around us. There was concrete, building structures and water scattered over the area. He walked towards it slowly and reached down, he immediately removed his hand away from it. "It's hot."

I looked at him curiously before turning away from him. He seemed as lost as me. What is worse is he still doesn't want to talk to me.

"I don't know a way out," I said beginning to kick a nearby rock. His eyes finally met mine before they slightly widened.

"Your injured," he stated as if I didn't realise. He stepped forward and stared at the wound on my forehead for a while before a small sigh of defeat escaped his lips. "Come here."

Just those words were enough for my heart rate to pick up. I walked to him a bit uneasy. What is he going to do?

A warm feeling was felt on my cheeks as two soft hands held them softly. I almost forgot to breathe. He stared deep into my eyes, creating a long pondering silence to fall between us. He glanced from left to right as if my eyes were telling him some unknown meaning. His hands were soft not like a workers hands, there was no calluses or scars to be seen. The pads of his fingers on my cheeks were somehow comforting, it was a feeling I had never felt before. It was beautiful and warm unlike any touch I had felt in my whole life. I have always had problems with physical touch but somehow I longed for him to touch me more.

"Yours eyes..." he trailed off before continuing, "there dilated, you must have a brain injury."

He stood and strode away, "you need to rest, I'll find a way out."
