Meanwhile...

As Edd, Tord and Sophie continue to walk through town, more and more people begin emerging from homes. They seemed to be in better-ish conditions than other places they'd seen.

A big plus was that the people seemed a little more pleasant than the ones Sophie and Tord encountered just yesterday.

While the girl was happily admiring the neon lights shining everywhere, and the TV's on buildings showcasing things like news reports and adverts, Tord was taking the time to do something he hadn't gotten a chance to do with his friends in the present.

Catch up with each other, and talk about what Tord had been up to in his 5 years of being away.

"So, you've always wanted to be a robotics engineer and inventor?" Edd recaps.

"Oh yeah. It was mostly a secret hobby when I lived with you and the guys, but I wanted to do bigger and better things." Tord explains.

"So I decided I'd move back to Norway and get a job. I worked for a huge company in my home country, I got along with my coworkers well, and my inventions became the highest grossing products in the whole country. So you can imagine money's not a problem for me."

"That's amazing! I'm happy for you Tord."

"After about 5 years, I was starting to get pretty homesick. I know Norway is my home, but living with you guys felt more like home. So I asked my boss if I could return to England." He continues.

"At first he said yes, and I planned to come back at some point during spring. But then he said no."

"How come?" Sophie asks.

"The company wanted me to be a part of commercials for it before I left, since I was their star employee and best option apparently." Tord says.

"Well, I had no choice but to agree. But eventually figured out a new date for going home on, a day before your birthday Edd. Once we're back in the present, I'll probably resume working from home after dealing with Red."

"Hehe, wow. Someone's been busy. But how come you didn't tell us you had an interest in robotics and engineering?" Edd wonders as they pause at some traffic lights.

"I guess I thought you guys would freak out or something. I mean, you all know how chaotic I can be." Tord chuckles slightly.

Edd just smiles and laughs, feeling happier than he had been in a long time. Sure he was on the run again, but at least he wasn't alone anymore.

However, his smile fades a little as Sophie gets the boys' attention.

"Hey guys, look at the TV screens!"

She points up at one, making the boys look up. Every screen had gone white with the Red Army logo flashing on it with words below it:

"Signal Intercepted. Please Standby."

"What's that all about?" Tord asks before scoffing. "Pfft, has Red just come to gloat about himself?"

"Not exactly. Every week, Red Leader makes an announcement to the people in the city." Edd explains. "It varies on what he's announcing."

They watch as people begin looking either at the TV's on buildings or in shops, intrigued by what's to come.

"No one really pays attention to them for long. I mean, would you?" Edd continues.

Tord and Sophie just shrug with a "meh".

"Anyway, the only things that remain the same is Red reminding people to find and capture me and consider joining the Red Army." He continues. "It saddens me that most recruits are people who've given up on living good lives and turned to Red."
