"Let those fluids finish in room 5 then they should be good to go." I stated, not glancing up from my computer as I finished the report on said room. The board that held patient assignments was empty meaning my last ten minutes would be peaceful. I finished the report and leaned back in the chair, stretching my arms above my head.
These twelve hour shifts could go either way in my line of work and luckily today had been uneventful. That was a good thing, it meant there were no disasters caused by villains or hero's. Not that it mattered to me, I treated all patients the same even with my hospital being in the unfavorable part of town. It wasn't my job to judge someone, it was my job to treat them.
Once my replacement showed up I gave them a run down of the few patients we had and happily left. The sweetness of the outside air was even sweeter knowing I had tomorrow off. I had already planned on catching up on some much needed sleep and what ever show happened to be trending on Netflix.
"Hey Doc!" People greeted as I passed. I waved back with a smile. Even being in an unfavorable part of town didn't make me nervous. I had made it my mission to treat hero's and villains alike and not only did that win me favor with the hero community but with the villains to. I knew people had my back on both sides of the line and whether I liked the idea or not I knew justice would be sought for anything that happened to me, from either side of the track.
So, when I glanced down a nearby alley and saw a figure slumped over by a trashcan I didn't think twice about offering my help. As I approached the figure, I became more concerned for their wellbeing. The raven-haired figure sitting in a small pool of bright red blood and taking slow, shallow breaths. The splatter of blood dropping into the pool drew my attention to their arm, which was severed right above the elbow.
"Are you ok?" I asked as I quickly unbuckled the strap from my purse. "Don't worry, I will stop the bleeding and get an ambulance." I stated as I dropped down beside him
"No hospitals." Came a husky voice from the figure. It was good to know that he was still awake, but I still needed to stop the bleeding. I reached out to wrap the strap around his arm, but he flinched away.
"I need to stop the bleeding before you pass out from blood lose." I reached forward again to wrap the strap of my purse around his arm but stopped when the stranger brought up his other hand. I watched in awe as blue flame danced from his palm before he cupped his hand around the severed arm and cauterized the end. He didn't even flinch.
"Bleedings stopped, now leave." He spat harshly, I could only image the pain from burning his arm woke him up more.
"But...your arm..."
"What about it? It's gone." He shot back, obviously upset about loosing his arm.
"Do you want it back...?" His head snapped up at the question and in finally got a good look at his face. The first thing I noticed was his fierce azure eyes, almost glowing in the low light. His two-toned mouth was pursed in an angry scowl.
"Of course I want it back but it's sleeping with the fishes now!" He spat, his eyes burning at the though. He was sure spunky for someone who just lost an arm. I stood up and outstretched my hand to help him up. He glared at my hand like it had just offended his mother. "Are you mocking me?"
"Come with me, I can get your arm back."
"No hospitals."
"No hospitals, I promise." I jerked my hand again, waiting for him to take it.
"And how do you plan on doing that princess?"
"My quirk is Regeneration. Now are you gonna take my hand and follow me to my apartment or are you gonna continue to be a snarky jerk with one arm?"
