Love In a Hopeless Place (A Harry Styles Fanfic)

Chapter 5

His raspy tone sent a shiver down my back and my breathing calmed for just a few short seconds. He was standing there in front of the open bedroom window wearing the clothes I had let him borrow not even 24 hours ago. His hair was pressed against his face and the T-shirt he wore stuck to the bare skin of his chest. I got the hint that it was raining outside because even his goofy smile seemed wet and soggy.

"You heard?" I asked still not looking into his eyes. Harry shut the window and began to make his way over to the bed to sit next to me.

"Ella?" He took my hands from my face and held them in his. His strong tight grip around my wrist caused my breathe to hitch in my throat again. I lifted my gaze to meet his two beautiful eyes and his lips parted as if he were about to say something. But instead he used his grip on my wrists to pull me into him so that my chin rested on his shoulder and his arms locked me into a warm embrace.

I dont know what it was that convinced me that this was ok; I dont know why I let him hold me the way that he did because we both knew that eventually Liam would be back home and I would have to let him in. We both knew that Liam would want to kiss me and hold me and make me feel better. It was clear to us both that today was mine and Liam's aniversary....and furthermore, we both knew that I was never Harry's, I was and always will be Liam's. But even knowing this something about the way he held me, the way the rasp in his voice sent chills to my skin, the way that he whispered nearly every word so he knew I had heard him properly, the way his heavy smell of toothepaste and cologne would fill my nostrils with every breathe I took in his arms, something about the way he comforted me and made me feel whole again took away my ability to tell him no. Harry could take my breathe away with one flip of his hair, he could render me speechless just by the way he stuck his hands in his pockets and shrugged. It didnt take much for him to have me at his beg and call because Harry Styles was simply irrisistible.

"Ella?" Harry was calling my name again. His lips brushed my earlobe as he purred into it softly. His hands were running up and down my back in soft calming motions and as he would reach my shoulders his thumb and forefinger would gently squeeze massaging all my pain and worries away.

"Harry..." I groaned into the soft fabric of his T-shirt. I began to shift around trying to give him a hint because something somewhere deep inside of me was telling me that this shouldnt be happening. I knew in my heart that Liam would be crushed if he walked in. But that same attraction that kept me smiling when he said my name, that same pulling feeling I got in my gut when I saw him climbing through the window kept me bound there in Harry's arms instead of jumping up and running away.

"Harry...we shouldnt..."

"Shhhhhh Ella." Harry calmed me continuing to trace patterns on my back. I closed my eyes desperately reaching for any sort of hint that this was or was nnot the right thing to do. As my eyelids swept over my misty pupils I saw it; I saw Harry kissing me back at the cabin and his smile as he pulled the little dress he had bought me out of its bag, I saw him sitting at the dining table waiting for me to emerge and I felt his hot breathe on my ear just as I had that night he had first taken me. I saw it all flash before my eyes and in an instant I knew that my heart was beating a mile a minute trying to tell me what I had for so long been battling with denial about...I was in love with this man. Harry Styles and I were in pure and perfect, absolute without a doubt, love.

"Ella, baby please just let me do this for you. I know that this doesnt feel entirely right I know that you love Liam and I know that you and I shouldnt be together. But hear me out....nothing in the world could ever stop me from loving you, from wanting you from hurting myself to get over here and see your beautiful face. I love you Ella Elise more than words can say and I wont let anyone, not even Liam change that." I gasped tears filling my eyes for the second time that night. I tightened my grip around Harry as my fingers found his hair.

Harry pulled back gazing at me and then noticed the tears pooling in my eyes.

"Oh no baby I didnt mean to hurt you! I only wanted to make things better Im sorry." He cooed bringing a finger down to rub a tear from my face. I smiled, now it was my turn to bring my hands up to his face. I cupped his cheeks in my hands rubbing my fingers over his dimples.

"Oh Harry! You didnt hurt me, I love you." I whispered watching his face light up with joy. And before I could think about it he brought his lips to mine and kissed me softer and lighter than any other kiss I had ever felt. And I didnt want it to stop but I pullled away from him and took in a deep breathe.

"This isnt right....." I told him loosening my grip on his face.

"I know, I knew when I said what I did that you might not feel the same way and I just...." He cutt me off.

"Hazz, you didnt let me finish. This isnt right....let me break things off with Liam." I finished my thought kissing Harry on the cheek once more before lifting myself from his grip and off the bed to grab my purse and a jacket. I needed to find Liam and I needed to find him fast.

NIALL'S POV

The police were on the lookout. Every officer in town knew that Harry had been out before his release and soon enough every cop car and station in the city would be searching for him. He needed to be returned to where he belonged, the county prison.

I hated what he had done to Ella and I sure didnt want to risk it happening to anyone else. So of course when Liam came to me asking to help him report Harry to the local police authorities I had obliged willingly. This twat needed to be locked up once and for all and with the report we filed today it would be happening sometime soon. I was so excited to go tell Ella the news! i needed to find her, and I needed to find her fast!
