Jane's POV

As Joshua agreed yesterday to join Maxine's organization, we're here now in the org room, just finished conducting a meeting.

This kind of thing is not unusual to me as I said before that in my show-off phase for Maxine, I also joined this club; so, it's easy to understand and participate in outlining the important tasks and the resources needed.

I smiled as I reminisced the memories I have with this club...

Sayang, I became an inactive member when Joshua finally admitted his feelings towards Maxine.

Speaking of show-off, no one can beat my bestfriend who is currently giving Maxine the kwek-kwek I cooked.

"Omg, who made this? It's my favourite now!"

I act that I didn't hear it and continue the outputs I did, but my heart flutters as Maxine compliments what I prepared for her.

"Guys, you should try it!" She commends again my kwek-kwek which also makes the other members taste it.

"You won't believe it, but I am the one who fried it. It's kind of challenging since I am not a pro but for you, I'll wholeheartedly do it again and again." Joshua even winked at Janella which earned a tease from other members and made me focus on my table again.

Yeah, ano ba namang iniisip ko? I always forgot that all of this is for Joshua.

You're silly, Jane.

"Let's just continue tomorrow! Good job, everyone!" Maxine announced.

"Janella, hatid ka na namin." Joshua suggested which unfortunately means that I am locked with the both of them.

"It's fine, Joshua. I can book a grab." As Janella organized the things left and scattered.

Johua insisted, so here we go. He is the driver, Maxine is in the passenger while I am in the back seat.

To avoid any interaction, I just pretended to be asleep until we finally arrived at Maxine's dorm.

I opened the backdoor of the car since I'll be the one seating in the passenger right after Maxine left.

As what I used to, I also opened the door in the passenger seat, so it won't be a hassle for her.

Our eyes met but I quickly looked away.

"Thank you, Joshua and Florence! I owe you, guys! Drive safely." As Janella waved to us.

Again, I just smiled at her before entering the car.

"WAAAAAAAH! This is one of the best days ever!" I felt like my eardrum is now damaged because Joshua shouted, at the same time he hugged me.

"Shit, that's loud, man!" I complained while pulling away from his hugs.

"So sorry HAHAHAH! I just got carried away." I am happy seeing Joshua like this.

Atleast, my sacrifices give him happiness... That is more important.

"What if tanungin mo kasi? Malay mo, gusto ka na rin ni Maxine. It's almost one year na, dude."

You're a clown, Jane... Halos isang taon mo na rin palang niloloko ang sarili mo.

"You think so?" He asked with a visible hesitant in his eyes.

"Of course, you have proven a lot for her, Josh."

And yeah, marami rin akong napatunayan for her.

It's crazy how I always argue with myself.

"Ikaw din, if you don't act nowadays... Baka agawin pa siya ng iba." I also stared at him.

"I really trusted you, Jane... You're the best!" With his usual energetic voice as he glanced in my direction.

"So... I'm gonna ask Janella to be my girlfriend after these big events... Tulungan mo ulit ako ha!"

The statement that stabbed my heart again.

"O-oo naman, as always, buddy." I gulped saying these words as the pain makes it difficult for me to breathe again.

Even before, I wonder when this kind of pain will finally disappear?

Or will the pain really go away?

But what if it stays and I'll just need to learn, adjust and be used in this heartache?

"Huy, bestfriend! You're spacing out." I just came back to reality when Joshua tapped my shoulder.

"Sorry, I just remembered what I need to do tomorrow for our org." And again, I lied what I really felt or experienced.

"Ahhh... Just chill, man! You're already smart, yakang-yaka mo 'yon!" I just smiled at him.

"Anyway, samahan mo ako ngayon para magpa-reserve ng flowers and chocolates. Then, bili na rin tayo ng ingredients para sa kwek-kwek, turuan mo ako para naman plus points for my Janella." I just nodded at him while looking at the house we passed by.

"What can I do without you? So thankful to have bestfriend like Jane!" We're in the grocery store now, already finished making a reservation for flowers tomorrow.

"Tssss... No need to mention." I bragged, so we both laughed. He's just appreciating my efforts of always being with him.

That's also the reason that despite this situation I am torned in, I cannot be upset with Joshua. It's not his fault that he likes the same girl I have feelings for.

"I'm very sorry! You're okay, miss?" In the middle of my thoughts, I bumped into a woman which made the things she carried fall to the ground.

"Yeah, I'm fine... It's just me and my clumsiness against the world." I smiled at what she said, at the same time, I instantly picked her things and gave it to her.

"It's not really my inten--- Julia?" I was shocked when I finally got a chance to look at her face.

The face of the woman I loved first, Julia Barretto...

But unfortunately, Joshua also likes her so I gave up to give way for my bestfriend.

They become a couple for two years, but Joshua being an asshole, he cheated.

I wanted to be angry at him because he perfectly fits the description in one of Parokya ni Edgar songs, Halaga: Binabasura ng iba ang s'yang pinapangarap ko…

But I cannot, knowing there's no one beside him except for me.

Joshua only have me.

See?

Even in High School, this thing over falling with the same girl happened.

I guess, I can label myself as Lord's least favourite child.

It was a long staring competition between me and Julia, no one wanted to end it...

Not until Joshua called my name...

"Let's go, Jane! I already found all the kwek-kwek ingredients from the list."

As much as I want to talk to her, I don't have the courage to do so...

I slowly turned my back on her, just like what I did before...
