guess who's back?

---------------------------

oh shit.

sunghoon woke up at the crack of dawn, the sunlight seeping through the empty space below the curtains falling on his face. his first instinct was to grab his phone, which had been abandoned by his side as he slept, no doubt a little shaken up as he read the only notification that tainted the lock screen.

across the other side of the room, joori slept unaware and unaffected by sunghoon's actions. as she stayed still, the blanket over her rising and falling with every exhale, he knew she was deep in dreamland. before he had time to mull over the message, another one came through, startling him with the vibration that accompanied it, the phone rattling between his fingers.

---------------------------------

i'll be home soon ;)

just got to do something

real quick first

---------------------------------

thinking nothing more of the text, sunghoon rested his eyes, the image of the night before playing like a film--where everything went perfectly. how her eyes lit up, her soft hands fitting snugly in his, how open and receptive she was to him. he could do anything but suppress his smile at the thought; it was the sort of memory he'd treasure forever.

choi joori woke up to the sound of knocking on her door, looking over towards a man lying on her couch who was equally stunned (for sunghoon had awoken again at the same time with the loud noise). telling him to stay still, she trudged over, rubbing her eyes and waking up all the while.

"jay?"

she blinked once, and as he leaned in to hug her she stood back, gathering her senses. she would have pinched herself otherwise since she couldn't believe the sight at first.

"you're back?"

before letting him explain himself in the middle of a communal hallway, she let him inside, following him after shutting the door quietly, not knowing how many people were sleeping as she had just been.

if anyone other than sunghoon and jay had seen the look they shared, they'd be calling for a nurse. the glare jay gave said much more than i'm going to kill you, in fact, it was more of an i'm going to kill your entire bloodline.

notwithstanding their interaction, sunghoon greeted his older roommate with a handshake, which jay accepted, not wanting joori to see how nervous he had become at her unexpected roommate.

"come in," she offered, "i'll get you something, what do you want?"

jay replied, smiling for a second before letting the facade fall. he tried to smile again, but his muscles drooped effortlessly.

"i missed you so much," joori let out, the words coming like a knockout blow to the person she had been replacing jay with. to an extent he was happy too--to see his old roommate--just not to see the guy who had been standing between him and his fantasy.

sunghoon knew that the second they were both home, something would go down. he hadn't told jay about hanging out with her, let alone his feeling for her. how are you going to believe someone who tells you they've been in love with someone whilst you've known them? and how are you supposed to be trusted after that?

"look, sunghoon, we can talk about this later."

joori had gone over to her cabinets, making a drink for the guest. she was just out of earshot from their conversation, which jay took note of. he didn't want to threaten sunghoon, he wouldn't, but he did hate that he had been left in the dark.
