~Wisdom~

°One Week Later°

It has been a week now, and much has changed. Before my eyes, paradise has offered much more than sweet remedy. One the first night, everyone was too tired to think, or even speak. Things seemed fine, until the clock read; the next morning...

We had to work out a system for living, something to ensure success. We had decided that different groups would take on jobs that could focus on their strengths. Everyone agreed to this, but it was clear some had faked interest. The system has yet to prove itself in putting ease to our lives. What happened to bring sadness to the memory of that morning? The attitude. Wisdom always told me that attitude is key when achieving success. It is all she lectured about. I treasure a mood set attitude, so that morning was a nightmare.

It didn't stop then either. Some of us moved on from the horrid stage, but others still pout about all dumb day long! Excuse my usage of the word 'dumb', it is considered a swear of sorts back home. I was right to use it though. Why will make sense when I inform you of the differences between now and a week ago.

Austin, better known as Ausie, has stepped up and become co-cook with Barney. They use supplies found in one of the storage rooms to make snacks and meals of all sorts. Three meals a day, the proper portion. I look forward to them, because the duo always has something new up their sleeve.

Meredith has taken on creating attire for all of us. It is a tough job, but she manages. She was assigned this task because of her advanced knowledge with knitting and sewing supplies. I always wanted to learn the art, but found little time when I was at the peak age. In the City Of Wisdom, our God gives her followers peak ages for extra activities. For example, Wisdom finds it the best to begin knitting and sewing at an early age. I missed my window, and will not be allowed to begin until I reach 50 years. Enough of me, Meredith is the true hero. She makes different coloured slacks and comfortable shirts for different people. Just this morning a received a blue t-shirt with a grey pocket over my chest, and grey sleeves.

Ember, the other Balance girl, has continued to teach the ways of the Balance. The two Kindness twins sit eager to learn for five hours every second day. Lessons take place in the cafe, and we do not interrupt. Sometimes, I want to be in the cafe just because I can't enjoy it. Ember and I have become quite close, despite my dislike of Ju. She is an excellent teacher, and an even better follower. I wish I could be as devoted as her. What kind of perks come with behaviour like that?

Those two twins sit tirelessly on their days off. They seem to have a longing for more than this safe house. I can only help but wonder if they had more business here in the city. Sometimes I catch the boy sneaking away for hours at a time, but I do not care, for I have work of my own. Their initial jobs were to clean up after meals and rests. I can tell that the girl enjoys such little responsibility, but the boy is another story. One that my intelligence chooses to neglect.

Auber takes up yoga and meditation. She has informed me that she uses it to connect with her mother. Her mother is apparently a godlike woman, but that would make Auber a mythical half God, half woman. I have not seen signs of supernatural activities, but I do not doubt someone who had it in them to survive years worshiping a horrid God. I hope her mother turns up soon.

Arthur has located where are water source is from, and it almost scares me. He says it comes from beyond the cities. That whomever built this place hooked up our water to come in from beyond civilization. This makes no sense, but at the same time it is very wise. No one in the cities will know we are down here. The power source comes from beyond as well. Arthur informs us that he has been "working with general power and water since his fingers became slender as a young boy". This is a part of he reason why we have him the job.

Juliana, oh she manages no job at all. I suppose she is a leader of sorts, but she has not yet taken on a role. I watch her, and she drowns out the rest of us. Day in day out, she sits alone. Ember has tried to speak with Ju, but she has not been able to get out a word besides 'go'.

That leaves myself. I have been strategizing and forking plans for us to escape the city. I have data coming in about guards' rounds and information like that. I have not had much luck, but I will use my knowledge to persevere. Just don't hold your breath.

It was today I realized that there was something I missed when looking over data (you know, stuff the computer could steal from other software being used to store war plans). I needed recent information from above ground. I needed to know more about the guards' rounds. Why? Well, there is a time slot where we could get through a route, but it is in the wrong place. I need to know if the time slot, or 'window' will move to different locations over time. If so, will it happen in a spot where we could escape to Kindness?

I needed to speak with Juliana, even if she would push me away. I saw her as a leader, and a perfect candidate for exploration.

"Ju, I have some...news." I found her in her regular spot, rotting like old strawberries.

She looks up at me, almost surprised. "Good news?" Her voice plain and hopeless.

"There is a window, so to speak, in the guard schedule. We can escape through that window if-" I'm cut off.

"You need to send someone out, don't take me for a fool." Juliana speaks up. "I'll go, just tell me what you need to know." I don't take her for a fool, but I didn't suspect she would know why I came to her. Maybe she has though about reasons why anyone would actually approach her.

"If the window will move to the exit to Kindness." I inform her.

"Okay, but I will need a team. Someone to come with me."

"Of course!" She said yes! "Your pick."

She smiles. "I'll be sure to choose wisely. When do I leave." She looks at home, being asked to take risks.

"Tomorrow, the window should be at the Four Winds restaurant as it was yesterday. I need to know if it is somewhere else." I know it will be hard, but I'm putting all of my faith in Ju.

"Ok, I won't let you down." Ju winks at me and then walks away.
