Bucky couldn't handle it. Seeing Elle so disoriented and fearful at even her own brother was too much. She didn't recognize either of them. HYDRA had done that. They turned the dame that cooked brownies for him and Steve into a brainwashed machine, and who knows what else they did to her. Bucky knew the pain of not remembering. It was something he would not wish on his worst enemy, especially not his love. He left Steve with his sister and went out into the hall to gather his thoughts. The ex soldier knew there was something wrong with himself, because while he was sad and in pain, it wasn't to the level he should feel when the one he loved didn't even remember him. A single tear slipped down Bucky's cheek but he didn't know if he was grieving the loss of himself or Elle.

"Hey," a voice pulled him from his poisoned mind. Bucky turned to see his childhood friend and brother. He thankfully didn't comment on the brunette's condition, because Steve looked worse. His hair was messy from him running his hands through it and his eyes were red and tear fiilled.

"Hi, how is she doing?"

Steve sighed. "She ate your soup and passed out. She keeps thrashing but doesn't say anything. I can't stand to see her like this, and I'm going to get Dr. Banner."

"I'll keep watch over her while you're gone," Bucky promised.

"Thanks Buck. I'll be back."

The blonde trudged to the elevator and left Bucky alone. After a minute, the former Winter Soldier went back inside the room.
