•Moose's POV•

His thumb had been hovering over the 'call' button for 5 minutes.

He had wanted to contact his brother for months now, but could never bring himself to do so. Sam worried how he'd react. What would Dean say? Would he even want him back?

Sam wasn't sure what he'd say to him if he called Dean. Sam also felt bad about what he'd done to Gabriel. He had broken the poor guy's heart. They were good together. A lot in common, and they enjoyed teasing their older brothers about the tension between them.

Sam wondered if Dean and Castiel had finally gotten together. He doubted it, both guys seemed too stubborn to admit anything.

"Sam, just do it already. Stop torturing yourself." His girlfriend Jessica had leaned over his shoulder.

"Jess, it's not that simple. What if-"

"No. It is that simple, and no more 'what ifs' okay. Every day I watch you hold your hand over Dean's number, debating whether or not to call him. And each day I wonder if it'll be the day you finally do it. It's getting kinda sad now."

She pushed his hand down to hit the button.

 "Just speak to the guy."

She turned and ran off down the hall.

Before he could hang up, to his surprise, Dean had answered.

"Sam?"

"H-hey Dean."

"Are you okay? Did something happen? Is that why you're calling?"

"What? No. No. I just - er - wanted to talk to you."

"Oh... wow, Sammy. You leave out of the blue, don't call or anything. I thought you wanted nothing to do with me!"

"I know, I know. I just needed to get away for a while after what happened."

"But it was just a fight."

"No, Dean. It wasn't 'just a fight'. You only got back after Dad..."

"Sam? Dad what? What did he do?"

Sam didn't answer. He couldn't. The silence told Dean everything he needed to know.

"Oh my God Sam! I can't believe Dad did that to you! But... but after Dad died, why didn't you come back?"

"I was scared. Scared you wouldn't want me back because I shut myself off from you. Plus I had to get back to Stanford - to Jess."

"Jess?"

"My girlfriend."

Dean was happy both he and Gabe had moved on.

Sam heard the faint sound of a door closing on Dean's end of the line. He guessed his roommate had gotten back or something. Sam then heard a conversation.

"Dean?" A voice said.

"One second Sammy... yeah, Cas?" Dean replied.

'Cas?' Sam thought. 'Cas is probably his roommate' though he was hoping they were more.

"I know with Angie vanishing, and that kinda messed up plans..." Cas began. "But, you still good to go out tonight?"

Sam hoped that meant what he thought it did. "Also, here's your 5 bucks."

"What?"

"John and Alex, they're going on a date tonight too. And it's Wednesday."

"Why don't you ask them if they want to come with us?"

"Like a double date?"

Sam stifled a scream, making a small squeak instead.

 Dean and Castiel were dating!

"Yeah, gimme a few minutes, I'm on call with Sam."

"Sam?"

"Yeah."

Cas said something in response, but Sam couldn't hear it clearly.

"I'm back Sammy. You still there?"

"Yes... so, you and Cas? FINALLY!"

"Oh, you - you heard that?"

"Uh-huh."

"Well, as you heard, I gotta go soon."

"Yeah. Bye, jerk."

"Bitch!" Dean responded, and they laughed.

Even though time had passed, it was nice to be able to speak like it had only been a few days.

Dean hung up.

"Jess, I know you're there." Sam called.

The blonde woman came out from the next room.

"Well I had to stay close, make sure you actually spoke to your brother."

Sam smiled and pulled her down to sit beside him.

"You should go visit him. You haven't seen each other in years, and by the sound of that call, you both want to."

Sam knew she was right.

Stepping out into the cool night air, John took Alex's hand in his and they strolled down to the car park. Cas and Dean were already there, waiting for them. Dean had insisted on driving them. Alex thought it was a nice gesture, but John knew Dean better than that. He knew he just wanted to show off his car: a 1967 Chevrolet Impala. He would admit, it was awesome.

 Suddenly Alexander stopped walking.

"You good?"

He was feeling around in his pockets.

"Yeah, I just forgot my phone. I'll quick run and grab it. Back in a moment."

He jogged back the way the had came and rounded the corner back to the dorms.

After Alex had been gone for 10 minutes, John became concerned. He should have been back by now. He decided to walk back, to see where he was.

Turning the corner, he saw something he never expected to:

Pressed up against the wall was a fearful and confused Alexander. He had blood dripping from his lip, and a bruise around his left eye. The man holding him there, readying another punch, was instantly recognisable: Thomas Jefferson.

Fury building up inside him, John raced over.

Wrenching Thomas off Alex, he punched him as hard as he could on the nose. Immediately fighting back, he launched his fist into John's face. His ring cutting his cheek. In response, John hit him in the jaw.

It hurt like hell, but it was worth it to hurt Jefferson for going after Alex.

They struck each other as much as they could, neither relenting.

John grabbed Thomas' shoulders, pushed him back, and kicked him in the ribs. Having all the air knocked out of him caused him to double over - giving John the perfect opportunity to kick him to the ground. Thomas rolled onto his back, trying to get a breath, but John straddled his chest and put his hands around his neck. He tried to struggle, but his grip was too tight.

John released his hand to deliver a final blow. This knocked Thomas unconscious. Before he could do anything else, a voice boomed from behind him.

"BOYS! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!"

John stood up to see an infuriated Washington, and a scared looking Burr.

"Mr Burr, get a medic for Jefferson!"

"Yes sir." Burr ran off.

Washington could hardly speak through his rage.

"Laurens!"

"Sir?"

"Hamilton!"

"Sir?"

"Meet me inside!"
