England watched Germany come out of the room, blinking in surprise when Italy wasn't right behind him, pretending everything was okay. He moved to go into the room when someone grabbed his arm. England moved to grab his gun, turning to the one who had grabbed him.
"Relax, Angleterre. It is only me." France sighed.
England sighed in relief, but didn't take his hand away from his gun.
"I would like to propose an alliance." France stated.
England blinked in surprise.
"Alright. But we have to go get Italy." England said.
France looked a little surprised, but didn't ask.
"I'll be right back." England said, walking back into the meeting room.
He spotted Italy in the corner and walked over.
"Italy."
Italy didn't bother to look up. He just kept crying. He repeated Germany's words over and over in his head.
'You are a waste of a country,' replayed the most.
"Germany is right, I'm worthless." He thought to himself and kept crying.
England crouched down and wrapped his arms around Italy.
"Whatever Germany said... He was wrong. He's just under a lot of pressure," England told him, "Me and France would like you to join our alliance. We'll see how many other nations we can get together as well."
Italy flinched slightly when England touched him. After hearing the Brit, he made up his mind. He looked up at the other with open eyes.
"N-no." He choked out.
"I'm t-too worthless.. I'll only slow you down..." He said with a devastating look.
England stared at him, taken aback. His eyes flooded with anger.
"Is that what that damned Germany said to you?!" He snapped.
"Bloody hell! If you were useless, I wouldn't have asked you to join us! I'd have a right mind to track that wanker down and kill him, if it weren't for the fact that I'll probably get that opportunity anyway." England closed his eyes a moment, taking a deep breath to calm down.
"Look, Italy. You have to join someone. This war is going to tear the world apart and you either join us, or... You may very well die. We will protect you, and you will help protect us. Please Italy, join us. You are far from useless."
"That's not true... You're just saying it.." Italy started.
"I am worthless. W-why do you want someone like me to join you? Do you want my land? Army? Because y-you can have it." He said dimly.
He shifted and pulled out a small handgun he always carried with him just in case. He brought it up and pointed it towards his head.
"N-now no one will have to put up with me..." He mumbled.
"Italy, put the gun down!" England's eyes grew in alarm and he put his hand around the gun.
"Italy, give it to me. This isn't going to solve anything. We need you Italy. You'll be able to keep us in check, and make sure we don't lose ourselves. You'll help us make plans that will hurt the least people- Italy! You're my friend..." England dropped his guard, his eyes tearing and fear completely evident on his face.
"Please Italy, just give me the gun.." His voice wavered.
Italy listened to England's words and his lip quivered. He noticed England's face and thought hard.
"Do I really mean something?" He thought.
He didn't know what to think. He was just so.. Hurt. The person he loved for so many years had crushed his heart. He made up his mind and dropped the gun, wrapping his arms around England and crying into his shoulder.
The blonde gave a shaky sigh of relief, wrapping his arms around Italy and ruffling his hair.
"It's alright, Italy. It's all going to be alright. We're going to get through this, together." He said softly, letting the Italian cry. Italy kept crying and hugged England tighter. He was comforted by England's words and was glad to have a friend, but was still hurt greatly. It was unsure if he would ever return to his old care and worry-free self.
England closed his eyes. Italy, with the gun to his head, was etched into his eyelids, and he tried to push it away.
"Italy.. we have to go. We need to round up as many nations as we can... France is waiting outside, I'm sure he's talked someone up." England still spoke in a soft tone of voice that was unusual for him, but comforting.
He pulled away to look Italy in the eyes.
"I promise you, even if the world goes to hell, we will make it through this." He set his jaw, the fear on his face replaced with determination.
He placed a kiss on Italy's forehead. "Come on."
Italy was actually surprised by England's actions and stopped crying. He nodded and stood up.
"Maybe he's right, maybe we'll be okay." He thought, a little hope making its way back into his mind.
It wasn't much, but it was enough. England stood.
"So are you joining us then?" His voice twinged with a bit of hope.
Italy nodded and managed to smile just a little.
"I am." He said, eyes remaining forever open.
England noticed Italy didn't close his eyes and silently adjusted himself, smiling.
"Good." He nodded.
"Let's go to France." He said, turning and opening the door for Italy.
France was talking to Switzerland, with Lichtenstein standing behind him, holding onto his coat.
Italy walked out of the room and quickly wiped away traces of any tears before turning to the others. England stood beside France.
"Oh, Angleterre, I'm glad you're back. Hello Italy, I'm glad you've joined us. We have Switzerland and Lichtenstein now!" France chirped away.
England help out his hand and Switzerland took it, neither saying anything.
"I tried to get Russia, but he was very scary and said something about destroying us all and-"
"France, would you kindly shut up." England snapped at him, glaring.
France fell quiet and England took a deep breath.
"Alright, who else might we be able to have join us?" England asked.
Italy remained silent, as he didn't have any ideas. The only people who used to be friends with him didn't like him, so he didn't know who else would join. He felt as if something inside him had changed, and it had.
England thought deeply, trying to recall all the people who didn't hate him completely.
"Has anyone tried China?" The Brit asked.
"No," France shook his head, "but I'm fairly certain he's teamed up with Hong Kong and Japan."
England sighed, "Well... We need to get going. Something tells me this is going to be a long war. If we take some of the smaller countries, we can start building up our armies." England suggested, Switzerland nodding in agreement.
"Alright, let's get our troops together."((Sorry it's kinda short))
