I fell like I was a boulder, fast and terrifying. I landed like a feather, light and steady. I landed right on my feet, from experience obviously.
I walked through the back yard and peered through the kitchen window. My stepmom was sitting on a barstool crying with ice packs on her bruised face with Sienna and my dad crowding around her.
I gave her what she deserved, she needs to understand that I am in a million years going to call her mom. The only sound I heard was not the roar of the engine of Joes car, but the crickets making their sweet sound in the night.
I walked down the worn out road and stopped at the curb. The stop sign was bent at an extremely odd angle. Graffiti was spread across it like butter.
Bright lights blinded me. The head lights of a silver pickup truck came closer every second. I raised from the spot where I sat as the truck halted to a stop in front of me.
Joe emerged from the truck. His black hair blows in the soft wind while his deep blue eyes stare at me. His red shirt and jeans for him perfectly. His hands were in his pockets, just looking at me like an idiot.
I wait for him to say something. Just waiting. He slowly pulls his hand out of his pockets and gets in the drivers seat.
"You coming or not?" He asks still with that idiotic look on his face.
My lips curl into a smile as I open the door to the passengers side and get in. We drive away and I watch my house until it disappears into the endless
foggy night.
