IT WAS FAIRLY EARLY IN THE MORNING, we all heard about the new arrivals in alexandria. it'd been a while since aaron and eric had brought anyone in from so far away, let alone a whole group of people. i tend to think people here are too trusting, i've heard all the horror stories about being out there, and letting people in that could possibly make some of these stories true is frightening. but i'll never admit to thinking about that stuff, or being afraid.
"look at the beard on him." ron scoffed, we were peering around the corner of one of the houses, honestly you could probably see us but i don't really care. there's 15 of them, only one is a kid that looked around our age and the guy that ron was referring to, presumably the leader, has a baby in his arms.
deanna was pretty welcoming towards them but thankfully didn't hesitate in taking all their weapons away, and there were a lot, according to mikey who heard it from his dad. ron got bored and went home but i watched as one by one they were interviewed by deanna, they seemed really skittish, unsure, i guess this place looked pretty intimidating to any one new walking through those gates.
i just sorta stared, the boy that was with them caught my gaze and i just ran when he did. he was as intimidating as the rest of them.
later, mom went over to the houses they'd been given, to give them stuff from the pantry. when she came back she said rick was happy to let his son, carl, hang out with ron and i some time soon. ron's an extrovert so he looked pretty pleased but i faked my smile, the kid looked like something of a sociopath, which i know isn't nice to say but how else would he have lasted so long out there with all the adults.
the group's arrival made me think about how different they must've been living for so long. we were a pretty fair ways away from any other kind of neighbourhood or town so they must've been walking and just living in the woods until aaron and eric found them.
