Last Chapter

HAEJI

Snow was falling. I was waiting at my new school and I didn't have many friends there, but the ones I did have already left. I was waiting for Jinwoo to pick me up, and I was anxious. I looked at my watch, and it was almost 12:00, I wanted to go home soon. What if they arrived and I wasn't there?

Suddenly a black car stopped in front of the school, I got scared. Many of the paparazzi and reporters left me alone, but they still showed up. But I was calmer when I recognized who got out of the car.

"Uncle Haejun!" I ran to him and he picked me up. "Is this car new?" I asked and he laughed.

"Yes, do you like it?" I nodded. "Are you hungry?"

"Yes, it's almost lunchtime. Have they arrived?" I asked feeling anxious.

"Not yet. Then we have time. What do you want to eat today? You can eat whatever junk food you want." I laughed. Grandpa didn't let me eat any candy or junk food these three days, not even a cake on my birthday.

"I want to go home. I don't want to be late, and I want to be there when they arrive. And I want to eat normal food, no junk food, Uncle." I replied.

"You're boring like your father." I laughed. Uncle always says that everyone is wrong and that I may look like my mother, but I'm boring, straight and serious just like my father. "Let's go then?"

"Yes!" I said excitedly, and he took me to the car.

When I got home, I ran to shower and almost tripped over Dalgom. I picked him up and took him to my room.

"Dalgom!" I put him on top of my bed. "Today daddy, mommy and Jihoo will come back." He barked, I think he was excited too. "Jihoo was born on my birthday, isn't that cool?" He barked again.

"Haeji, do you want fried chicken for lunch?" Uncle Haejun asked opening the door.

"Yes, please, Uncle." I say putting my backpack on the floor. I ran to the bathroom and showered. After I put on my pants and my coat, I went to Jihoo's room, everything was ready, but there was one detail missing.

"Mister Snugglebug. You've been really nice to me since Uncle Seo died." I hugged my bear. "Now you're staying with Jihoo, okay?" I put the bunny in my brother's crib and left the room, I heard the bell ring and when I arrived in the room I saw Grandpa and Grandma Jung enter. I ran to them and hugged them. Grandpa looked very happy because he was going to meet Jihoo, and they brought gifts, after them, Grandpa and Grandma Kim also arrived with gifts, and we had lunch.

Uncle Haejun left and I stayed with my grandparents. While they talked in the living room, I stayed in my room with Dalgom on my lap, looking out the window.

"Haeji, honey..." Grandma Kim entered the room. "Don't you want to watch something on TV?" I denied it.

"They're taking so long, Grandma Kim." I said sadly. "When will they arrive?" She stroked my hair.

"They're already on their way." Smile.

"Really?" She nodded.

"Your dad just called us and said they just got out of the hospital." She smiles, bouncing. I was looking forward to meeting Jihoo, I had only seen him through photos and videos.

Even though grandma said they were on their way, it still took a while. I helped grandpa Jung to wash the dishes and I helped grandpa and grandma Kim with a little space that would be for the baby in a corner of the room, and they still took a while to arrive.
