Ashlyn's POV (OC)

All morning I have been cleaning two of the bedrooms, because four children are coming to stay with me and Professor Kirke, a family friend that took me in when my parents died in an air raid attack. It doesn't seem like it will be that bad at least I will have someone to spend time with instead of being alone all the time. Two of the children that are coming are older Peter and Susan, their brother is my age, and his name is Edmund, then the youngest of the four a girl named Lucy.

"Ashlyn if you want to come with me to pick the Pevensie children up then stop doodling and get your hat." Ms. Macready said standing in the doorway putting her driving gloves on. "Yes ma'am" I said and grabbed my hat. I ran out the front door to where the buggy was while being scolded by Ms. Macready for running in the house. I hopped up into the buggy next to the driver's seat as Ms. Macready climbed into the buggy. Ms. Macready got the horses into a trot, and we went off to the station if you could call it that it was only a stage with a bench on it in the middle of nowhere.

As we drove, I started thinking of all the things we could do, we could go for hikes in the woods, play cricket, and other games that I had in the house. As I was thinking of this, I didn't notice that we were close to the station. In fact, we turned a corner and there was the station as well as four children. A taller dirty blonde one who had a protective look on his face I guess that would be Peter, a fair girl with dark hair who I guessed was Susan, a younger boy that looked my age with dark hair like the older girl and a somber face who was probably Edmund, lastly there was a young girl with light brown hair and a nervous face who I think is Lucy. "Is that it then? Haven't you brought anything else?" Ms. Macready asked them with a resting frown on her face. "No, it just us." The boy I guessed was Peter said and the young girl nodded her head in agreement. "Small favors." Ms. Macready commented and gestured for them to get into the buggy.

"Hello, I'm Ashlyn." I greeted them turning around in my seat as they climbed into the buggy. "I have been living with Professor Kirke for about a month now, it's not so bad there you know it's a huge house with barely anyone around." "Hello, I'm Peter these are my sisters and brother Susan, Lucy, Edmund." He said pointing to each of his siblings as he said their names. "Why have you been living with Professor Kirke for so long?" Lucy asked. "He's a family friend, my parents died during a bombing." I said fiddling with my hands a little when I talked about my parents. "Oh, I'm sorry." She said looking a little embarrassed. "It's alright. I figured one of you would have asked sooner or later. Anyways were almost home." I said changing the subject. The buggy pulled up to the mansion that was now my home and also theirs. I looked back at them and all of them hand their mouths agape. "Impressive, isn't it?" I asked them. "Yeah." said Lucy. "Wait till you see the inside there are paintings on every wall and so many historic artifacts you walk ten steps without seeing one!" I told them excitedly leading them out of the buggy and into the house.

"Yes, there are many paintings and artifacts. There are also many rules that are expected to be obeyed." Ms. Macready told them sobering the room again at the mention of rules. "There will be no shouting nor running and NO touching of the historical artifacts." Ms. Macready said as Susan went to touch one of the statues. Ms. Macready went on and on about the rules of the house as she led us up to our rooms. She finally left us to ourselves as it started to rain.

Susan asked where the library was and once, I showed her as well as getting a book for myself she came back with a huge book and started quizzing Peter on words. "Is this normally what you do for fun?" I asked Edmund who was sitting down next to me. "Yeah, pretty much ever since Dad went away." He said. "He's off fighting in the war?" "Yeah, otherwise we wouldn't be here, Dad would never make us leave." "How do you know that?" "Because he loves us." "Now the way I see it is that he would have made you leave, because he loves you, and he'd want you to be safe." "I guess." "Hey you two were playing hide and seek." Lucy said. as Peter started counting and Edmund started complaining about playing hide and seek. We all ran off to hide as I ran to another room I saw Lucy going into a wardrobe.
